    • A park brake system for vehicles is provided that has an actuator with an electric drive motor (36, 38) and an electronic control unit. A reduction gear has an input connected to the output of the electric motor and a pull force output member (56) for connection to mechanical brakes of the vehicle. The reduction gear has an input connected to the output of the electric motor. A command unit is connected to the electronic control unit. The reduction gear comprises a first reduction train and a second reduction train. The first reduction train includes a worm gear (42, 44) and the second reduction train includes a threaded spindle (46) and a screw nut (50) engaged with the spindle (46). The worm gear connects the spindle (46) to the output of the electric motor (36, 38). The pull force output member (56) is connected to the screw nut (50). The two-step reduction gear ensures the required high rate of reduction to generate high pull forces with a relatively compact electric motor. The worm gear used in the first reduction train has a high efficiency, and the threaded spindle and screw nut in the second reduction train allow for a self-locking feature.

    • The belt retractor for an occupant restraint system has a frame, a belt spool having a pair of flanges and rotatably mounted in the frame and a locking mechanism for selective blocking of the belt spool. A wheel member provided with an external toothing is mounted on one flange of the belt spool. A locking pawl is biased by a spring that engages with the wheel member. During the normal operating state of the belt retractor, the locking pawl is held by means of a solenoid so that it is disengaged from the wheel member.

    • The invention relates to a drive for a flap provided on a vehicle, especially an engine hood. The drive comprises an electric motor, an actuation shaft that is connected to the flap, and a reduction gear by means of which the rotor of the electric motor is coupled to the actuation shaft. The drive further comprises an energy accumulator by means of which the actuation shaft can be driven independently of the electric motor. The reduction gear is configured in such a way that the actuation shaft is driven in a rotational direction only by the energy accumulator and the electric motor drives the actuation shaft in an opposite rotational direction, thereby supplying to the energy accumulator an energy that is needed to drive the actuation shaft in the rotational direction. The invention further relates to a pedestrian protection means provided on a vehicle and equipped with such a drive.
