摘要： A fabricated article other than a film comprising a thermoplastic blend prepared from polymeric materials consisting of; (A) from 1 to 99 weight percent of at least one interpolymer made from monomer components comprising (1) from 0.5 to 65 mole percent of (a) at least one aromatic vinylidene monomer, or (b) at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinylidene monomer, or (c) a combination of at least one aromatic vinylidene monomer and at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinylidene monomer, and (2) from 99.5 to 35 mole percent of at least one aliphatic &agr;-olefin having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and (B) from 99 to 1 weight percent of at least one polymer made from monomer components comprising at least one &agr;-olefin having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms. These articles possess improved properties when compared to the properties of articles derived from the individual polymers comprising the blend. These articles are useful in the preparation of injection molded parts, bitumen and asphalt modification, hot melt and pressure sensitive adhesive systems.

These blends have been observed to possess improved properties when compared to the individual polymers comprising the blend and to provide materials with enhanced processability and temperature ranges of performance.

The polyolefins can be homopolymers or interpolymers and have a melt strength of at least about 6 cN. The ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer is a block copolymer having at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The soft block comprises a higher amount of comonomers than the hard block. The block interpolymer has a number of unique characteristics disclosed here. The polymer blends can be profiled extruded to make profiles, gaskets, and other products.

The invention also relates to a process for manufacturing the interpolymer product wherein the process employs two or more single site or metallocene catalyst systems in at least one reaction environment and wherein at least two of the catalyst systems have (a) different monomer incorporation capabilities or reactivities and (b) the same or, optionally, different monomer sequencing and/or tacticity characteristics. With unique thermal property attributes, the interpolymer product is useful, for example, for impact, bitumen and asphalt modification, adhesives, dispersions or latexes and fabricated articles such as, but not limited to, foams, films, sheet, moldings, thermoforms, profiles and fibers.
