摘要： A digital frequency detector and a digital phase locked loop (PLL) are provided. The digital frequency detector includes a first conversion unit which outputs a first frequency as first frequency information of a digital type using a first ring oscillator that operates in a high-level period of the first frequency, a second conversion unit which outputs a second frequency as second frequency information of a digital type using a second ring oscillator that operates in a high-level period of the second frequency, and an operation unit which outputs a digital frequency for the first frequency by calculating a ratio of the first frequency information to the second frequency information.

摘要： A high resolution time detecting apparatus using interpolation and a time detecting method using the same are provided. The time detecting apparatus includes a delayer which generates delayed signals by sequentially delaying a reference signal using a plurality of delay elements, a latch unit which outputs latch signals using the delayed signals, and an interpolation unit which outputs interpolated signals using input and output signals of the delay elements. As a result, a high resolution TDC using an interpolation and a time detecting method using the same provide improved performance of digital PLL, high resolution digital signal output at a low power consumption, and controlled circuit size.

The quadrature signal generator includes four phase tuning units each having two input terminals, one receiving a differential signal, the other being grounded, and changing a phase of the differential signal to thereby generate quadrature signals. Accordingly, it is possible to tune phases of all the four generated quadrature signals. It is also possible to prevent the amplitude of quadrature signals from being deviated from a reference value.

The oscillator has an oscillator amplifier core formed of a complementary pair of FETs connected with their gates in common and connected to share a bias current. An inductance is connected between the common gates and the common drains of the FETs. The inductance may be an inductor element or an inductance of a physical structure of the circuit, such as a bond wire. The voltage controlled oscillator includes a variable capacitor stage connected at the input of the oscillator amplifier stage and a buffer amplifier stage connected at the output of the oscillator amplifier stage. The buffer amplifier of one embodiment includes a pair of complementary FETs having common gates connected to the common drains of the FETs of the oscillator amplifier stage. The buffer amplifier stage also include an inductor and a capacitor connected between common drains of the buffer amplifier FETs and the output.
