    • A rigid bar of material is fastened to a circuit board to increase its stiffness. The bar is preferably a high modulus plastic such as liquid crystal polymer. Flexible fingers which surround a central opening are formed integrally with the bar and pop into throughbores in the circuit board. Each finger has at least one arcuate protrusion and, preferably several, which can engage the bottom of the circuit board. A rigid pin which may be made of steel is slid into the central opening and has an interference fit therewith to hold it in place to prevent flexible fingers from moving inwardly so the stiffener is held fast to the circuit board. In one embodiment, the stiffener has an I-beam cross section and arches enhancing the resistance to bending.

    • Within a piston cylinder of a pneumatic engine, the system includes a piston proportioned for complemental travel within a piston cylinder, the piston having a radial compression surface and elements for effecting the axial reciprocation of the piston within the piston housing. The system further includes a piston seal including an element for securement to the compression surface of the piston and an integrally dependent resilient annular skirt normally biased inwardly toward a longitudinal system axis, the skirt, in combination with the securement elements, defining a radius of less than that from the system axis to interior walls of the cylinder during low pressure (return stroke) phases of a work cycle of the pneumatic engine and, during high pressure/compression stroke phases, defining a radius greater than that from the system axis to the inner wall of the cylinder. The inward bias of the skirt is overcome causing axial and radial lifting of the skirt against inner walls of the cylinder to effect a piston seal of a high integrity during high pressure phases of the engine work cycle. No seal exists during low pressure phases, since the skirt is not yet expanded.

    • A main wing positioning and release system particularly adapted for use with a toy or model aircraft, includes a wing positioning bracket upon the axial centerline of the aircraft, the bracket having projecting elements directed upwardly from the centerline of the aircraft. The system also includes a wing release mechanism including a lower portion press-fittably securable to the upwardly projecting elements of the positioning bracket to provide proper positioning of the release mechanism relative to the aircraft fuselage, a rear area of the lower portion including a press fittable receiving recess, an upper surface of the lower portion of the release mechanism proportioned for complemental engagement of a lower surface of the main wing. The wing release mechanism also includes an upper portion having upper and lower surfaces, the lower surface proportioned for complemental engagement of the top of the aircraft main wing, the upper portion including a press-fittable connection element complemental to the press-fittable receiving recess in which the recess and element are releasible from each other. A flexible normally openly biased hinge joins respective front edges of such lower and upper portions of the release mechanism from each other. Upon impact of the aircraft, as in a crash or emergency landing mode, the press fittable element and recess will separate from each other, releasing the main wing from the release mechanism without damage to the wing.

    • A boot for recreational exercise which is equipped with a pneumatic ball spring. The ball is configured as a first semi-ovoid segment and a second smaller semi-ovoid segment which intersect at a minimum dimension. This minimum dimension receives an inwardly directed ledge which is captured by the fully inflated ball to secure the ball to its retainer. The retainer is in turn, secured to the bottom of the boot platform by adjustable dovetail members to permit the ball to be adjusted under the center of gravity of the wearer. The platform has a clamshell attaching member which secures a portion of the boot's weight to the calf of the wearer. The clamshell mechanism limits rotation about the ankle to .+-.15.degree. and restricts rotation of the foot about the axis of the leg and foot to reduce the potential of injury to the wearer.

    • An air pumping station for a pneumatic toy vehicle powered by a re-fillable compressed air bottle or canister includes a stabilizing base having a flat ground engaging horizontal lateral bottom including a horizontal projecting geometry proportioned for placement under the feet of the user. The station also includes a fluid-tight vertical cylindrical housing. The station includes a reciprocating piston having a first end in fluid tight relation to interior walls of the housing and a second end defining hand-grippable pumping handles. The station has an air intake valve for the cylindrical housing. The pumping station includes an element for selectable clamping and unclamping of the toy vehicle to at least a first surface of the cylinder, however offset therefrom by a sufficient distance to avoid the reciprocal movement of the piston and grippable pumping handles. The cylinder includes an air exhaust aperture in fluid communication with the base of the cylinder. An air exhaust conduit is provided having a proximal end in fluid communication with the air exhaust aperture and a distal end including an air inlet valve defining a compressed air input to the air bottle of the toy vehicle. The grippable pumping handle and the stabilizing base exhibit elongate substantially co-parallel lateral horizontal axis which, in combination, define a virtual plane which avoids intersection of the toy secured to the cylindrical housing though the selectable clamping elements.
