    • A swimming pool cleaning device includes a fluid distribution system for controlling its operation. More particularly, the distribution system includes a housing having an inlet for receiving a supply of pressurized fluid, a pair of outlet openings and a valve chamber positioned between the inlet and the outlet openings. A piston, including a valve member, is movably mounted in the housing so as to be movable between a first position, in which the valve member closes one of the outlet openings so as to divert pressurized fluid to the other one of the outlet openings, and a second position, in which the valve member closes the other one of the outlet openings so as to divert pressurized fluid to the one of the outlet openings. A valve is provided for controlling the movement of the piston between the first and second positions. The piston has a passage extending therethrough so as to permit flow of pressurized fluid from the valve chamber to the valve.

    • A battery receptacle has first and second types of electrical contacts received in guide slots formed in facing end wall surfaces of a housing. The first type of electrical contact has a inwardly facing protrusion extending inwardly of the compartment a distance sufficient to be engaged by the positive electrical contact of a battery but less than the distance required to make contact with the negative electrical contact of the battery. The second type of electrical contact is a tapered spring contact with the wide end positioned inwardly of the receptacle, the diameter of the wide end being larger than the diameter of the positive contact of a battery. With batteries correctly installed, the first type of contact engages the positive contact of the battery and the second type of contact engages the negative contact of the battery. In any other configuration, at least one of the electrical contacts is not engaged with a battery contact. A movable partition positioned within the receptacle partially divides the compartment in two longitudinally to assist in guiding installation of each battery and to accommodate batteries of different lengths.

    • A handle (10) supported pivotably but axially tight on an installation body (20) has a polygonal bar (30) mounted for rotation within a handle neck (12) for actuating a closing mechanism. Two drivers (15, 35) movable relative to each other are engageable in a non-positive and/or a positive way between neighboring surfaces (17, 37) either directly or by means of coupling elements (36, 40, 42) so that a torque transmission from the handle (10) to the polygonal bar (30) is free but is blocked from the polygonal bar (30) to the handle (10) as at least one coupling element (36) is displaced in the direction of the attack. A main portion of a polygonal driver (35) may be concentrically enclosed by a two-shell handle driver (15) having wings (52) with front faces (19) which drive e.g. pairs of spring-loaded roller pins (36) held in a wedge-shaped confining zone (55). Corner areas of indentations (31) of the polygonal driver (35) serve to attack the roller pins (36). Central parts (50) of the handle driver (15) may guide a compression spring (38) which loads engaging balls (47) in an outward direction; recesses (27) of the installation body (20) are associated to the balls (47) at enclosing surfaces (24; 44).
