    • A paddle latch having a pan with a well, a paddle handle, a handle pivot, a rotary latch portion, and a trigger arm arrangement. The paddle handle pivot has a pin that non-rotatably engages with the paddle handle to pivotally attach the paddle handle in the well of the pan and has a pin trigger. The rotary latch portion has a housing containing a rotary hook with a mouth, a rotary trigger, and pin trigger cam. The rotary trigger retains the rotary hook in either an open position where the mouth of the rotary hook is accessible from outside of the housing, or semi-closed or completely closed positions, where the mouth is blocked by the housing. The trigger arm arrangement is adapted to transfer of pivotal movement of the paddle handle to the rotary trigger to release the rotary hook from the semi-closed position or the completely closed position to its open position. Only when the rotary hook is in the semi-closed position will the paddle handle be automatically partially tilted out from the well of the pan.

    • A vehicle door handle device is configured so that, after a frame is assembled to an outer panel of a slide door, a link base, a connecting link, and a hand grip are mounted to the frame. Next, a lever and a cap are mounted to the hand grip and the frame, thereby assembling each component member to the outer panel. When the hand grip is moved through a door opening operation in the same direction as a slide door opening direction, an operation force for releasing a fully closed latch mechanism, which retains the slide door in a fully closed state, is generated. In addition, when the hand grip is moved through a door closing operation in the same direction as a slide door closing direction, an operation force for releasing a fully opened latch mechanism, which retains the slide door in a fully opened state, is generated.

    • A tubular latch assembly for a door and adapted for operation by either an “opener” such as a thumbpiece on one side and/or a knob on the other. The tubular latch comprises a central latch subassembly mounted inside the door and including a latch casing seated in the door, a bolt slidably mounted in said latch casing for extension/retraction (such as through an open face plate), a pivoting retraction lever coupled to the bolt, a spindle hub having a pair of offset cam surfaces, and a pivoting reversing lever engaged at one end with the bolt and at the other end with the second cam surface on the spindle hub for driving the bolt. The central latch subassembly allows opening by either the opener (e.g., thumbpiece) or by rotation of the knob, operation of the knob not affecting the opener and vice versa. This entirely eliminates any need for off-axis motion translation or accompanying mechanisms that are ordinarily used to adapt the axis of rotation of an opener to the orthogonal axis of rotation of a latch or spindle hub, thereby reducing the total number of parts as well as internal friction.
