摘要： An integrated optical waveguide (1) having an in-line light sensor (2) integrally formed therewith for tapping off a small proportion of the signal transmitted along the waveguide (1). A first part (1A) of the waveguide leads to a photodiode portion (2) and a second part (1B) of the waveguide leads away from the photodiode portion (2), the photodiode portion (2) comprising one or more regions (14) of light absorbing material within the waveguide (1) arranged to absorb a minor proportion of light transmitted along the waveguide (1) and thereby to generate free charge carriers within the waveguide (1). Deep band gap levels (21) are introduced into photodiode portion by ion implantation to enable it to absorb selected wavelengths. The free charge carriers are detected by a p-i-n diode formed across the waveguide (1). Wavelength selective reflectors (11, 12) may be provided either side of the photodiode portion (2) so light passes repeatedly through the photodiode portion (2).

摘要： A system and method are proposed in which valuable interactive or non-interactive primary content, made up of streaming audio, video, or binary executable program data such as a game program, or a combination of such data for which value is expected to be paid, is maintained in a contents database and accessed from a server station over a network, wherein the primary content is downloaded into a client-side networked game console or computer. Auxiliary content, such as advertisements which are targeted or customized to a particular customer based the identifying information, are triggered for playback in the client game console or computer. Controls are provided with the game console for enabling the customer to decide whether or not to view the auxiliary content, and information concerning which types of auxiliary content, along with times and durations during which auxiliary content was viewed, are recorded and uploaded to the server.

摘要： Apparatus for loading carton blanks into a packing machine comprises a magazine containing a stack of flattened, tubular blanks, a dog chain driving the blanks out of the magazine into the nip of rollers and then into the nip of overdriven rollers which accelerate the blanks into respective pockets defined in transport holders carried on a wheel conveyor. The blanks are driven at a speed sufficient to carry them into their respective pockets which are moving away from the magazine on the wheel conveyor. A slipping clutch in the drive to roller allows the blanks to decelerate without damage when fully home in their pockets. Arms bearing suction heads travelling with the wheel conveyor open the carton blanks in the pockets and the opened blanks are transferred in their transport holders for bottom closing, filling and top closing operations on respective wheel conveyors.
