    • An electrospray coating head system for applying thin coating to a substrate comprising a slot or blade to meter a liquid onto a shaping structure which forces the liquid to have a single continuous and substantially constant radius of curvature around the shaping structure. A voltage applied to the liquid around the shaping structure causes the liquid to produce a series of filaments which are spatially and temporally fixed, the number of filaments being defined by a simple adjustment in the applied voltage. The filaments break up into a uniform mist of charge droplets and are driven to a substrate by electric fields to produce a coating. Also a method for electrospray coating wherein liquid to be coated is dispensed from a metering portion to a lower shaping means where it achieves a single continuous and substantially constant radius of curvature, a voltage is applied to produce a series of filaments of the liquid which are spatially and temporally fixed, and the filaments break up into a uniform mist of charge droplets.

    • The invention provides a radiation curable release coating composition comprising:(a) about 1 to about 50 percent by weight of a cationically reactive polydiorganosiloxane liquid rubber having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R are monovalent moieties which can be the same or different selected from the group consisting of alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, and substituted aryl wherein at least about 50% of the total number of silicon atoms have two methyl groups bonded thereto;E is an organic monovalent functional group comprising from about 1 to about 20 carbon atoms having at least one cationically co-reactive functional group;a and b both represent integers, wherein the sum of a plus b is an integer of about 10 to about 1200;b has a value ranging from about 0 to about 0.2a;a is an integer of about 10 to about 1000; andM is a silyl group which must contain at least one cationically co-reactive functional group when b=0 and may contain at least one cationically co-reactive group when b is greater than 0;(b) about 50 to about 99 percent by weight of at least one cationically co-reactive monomer copolymerizable with said cationically co-reactive functional group of said polydiorganosiloxane liquid rubber;wherein the percentages of (a) and (b) are based on the total weight of (a) plus (b); and(c) about 0.5 to about 4 parts by weight of a photoactive radiation activatable cationically reactive catalyst based on the weight of (a) plus (b).The invention also provides release coatings and methods of making release coatings.

    • An imageable composite dry-transfer sheet that comprises (a) a cover sheet transmissive to actinic radiation that has at least one oleophilic surface, (b) a photopolymerizable layer on the oleophilic surface of the cover sheet that comprises a cationically polymerizable organic material, a cationic photopolymerization initiator, and, optionally, a thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin that is chemically inert to said organic material and said initiator and (c) a base sheet with an oleophobic surface on the photopolymerizable layer wherein, after image-wise exposure to activating radiation, the interfacial adhesion of the unexposed areas of the photopolymerizable layer is greater for the cover sheet than for the base sheet; the interfacial adhesion of the exposed areas of the photopolymerizable layer is greater for the base sheet than for the cover sheet; and wherein, after separation of the cover and base sheets, the unexposed areas of the photopolymerizable layer are rendered burnishable by subsequent exposure to activating radiation through the cover sheet.
