The device has an elongate body that has a proximal portion, a distal portion, a first slot segment, and a second slot segment that is angled relative to said first slot segment. The elongate body defines a passage for accessing the surgical location with surgical instruments. The elongate body has a contracted configuration for insertion into the patient and an expanded configuration for providing access to the surgical location. The cross-sectional area of the passage at a first location of the elongate body is greater than the cross-sectional area of said passage at a second location of the elongate body. A movable tab is configured to extend into the second slot segment when the elongate body is in the expanded configuration to retain the elongate body in the expanded configuration.

摘要： Implantable devices are provided for stabilizing adjacent vertebrae and the lumbosacral region of a patient. The devices can comprise an interspinous flexible spacer body having a substantially U-shape comprising a superior section, inferior section, and a midsection extending therebetween. The superior and/or inferior sections can include a pair of lateral walls configured to engage a spinous process of a vertebra. Fixation caps can be provided for securing a spinous process of a vertebra to the flexible spacer body. To secure the flexible spacer body between the lumbar vertebra and an adjacent vertebra, an anchor assembly is provided. Also provided are methods of using the implantable devices to stabilize a patient's spine.

The housing is formed of a lower housing portion and a cover portion defining a bounded interior therein. The lower housing portion includes a bottom surface, an upwardly extending wall bounding the bottom surface and an open upper surface opposite the bottom surface. The lower housing portion further includes a cable entry opening through the wall for permitting entry of the cable into the lower housing portion. The cover portion is positionable over the open upper surface of the lower housing portion so as to enclose the cable splice within the enclosure housing. The cover portion and the wall each include an encapsulant fill opening for permitting the housing interior to be gravity filled with a curable encapsulant, with the housing being positioned in multiple different positions.

摘要： An anterior cervical plating system is disclosed which includes an elongated plate having a pair of bone screw bores at opposite ends of the plate, and with bone screw slot configurations in the middle bridge portion of the plate. A single locking screw is provided at each end of the plate which engages the heads of the bone screws trapped within recesses of the plate. The locking screw provides a rigid fixation of the screws to the plate, while the heads of the screws are flush or recessed below the upper surface of the plate. The invention further contemplates a drill and tap guide assembly which can be mounted on the fixation plate to provide a firm foundation for accurately drilling and tapping screw holes into the vertebra to be instrumented. The drill and tap guide assembly includes an assembly support which is engaged to the plate by way of a positioning screw and cross pins mounting the positioning screw to the guide body. A tap sleeve and drill guide can then be supported by the assembly support, which both thereby provide accurate positioning for a drill.
