    • To prevent the formation of scratches, surface discontinuities, slide tracks or striations, for example due to sliding of electrodes (20) over the metal layer (12) of a metalized recording medium, a protective surface coating (13) of low-friction sliding protective material is applied in the form of discontinuous islands over the metal layer (12). The discontinuities permit electrical contact between the electrode (20) and the metal layer (12) although the protective surface coating (13) has insulating properties. The coating (13) may be polymerized hexamethyl-disiloxane, hexafluoropropylene, or Teflon, polymerized, preferably in a hot cathode glow discharge; or a metallic soap. The protective layer is hydrophobic in the form of islands of a thickness of between 10.sup.-9 m to 10.sup.-7 m, preferably about 1 to 2.times.10.sup.-8 m, thus protecting the underlying metal layer (12) against damage by the electrode (20), and attack by moisture or dampness from the ambient atmosphere. A surface portion can be rendered hydrophilic to permit writing on the recording paper by a felt pen, with aqueous ink or the like.

    • A device and a method for mechanically adjusting graduation-scale carrier members, which form a scale for a preferably incremental measuring system. The device and the method can be used both for angle measuring instruments as well as for length measuring instruments. A wedge-shaped form-locking between segments of the graduation-scale carrier members and fixing elements enables forces produced by setting screws orthogonally to the measuring direction and exerted on the fixing elements to be varied in their effective direction, so that they have a component that is parallel to the measuring direction and, thus, to the extension of the graduation-scale carrier member. As a result, the setting screws can be used to exert a compressive or tensile force on the graduation-scale carrier member to be used for the adjustment thereof. The gap width at the joint of two graduation-scale carrier members can be adjusted in the same way as is the graduation-scale carrier member. The wedge-shaped segments arranged on the graduation-scale carrier members and the wedge-shaped fixing elements cause the forces exerted on the fixing elements by setting screws to be diverted in the measuring direction at the graduation-scale carrier members and, in such a way, that the gap width of the joint is adjusted.

    • An apparatus for automatically equipping printed circuit boards with components includes at least two equipping heads arranged stationarily at a distance from one another. A printed circuit board displacement apparatus moves corresponding printed circuit boards simultaneously into corresponding equipping positions relative to the equipping heads. Each equipping head is actuated when the printed circuit board allocated to that equipping head is moved into the corresponding equipping position. After the equipping program has been executed, the printed circuit boards are clocked for work by one equipping head division so that an unequipped printed circuit board is supplied to the first equipping head in the conveying direction and a completely equipped printed circuit board is discharged from the last equipping head. This spatially separate, serial equipping of the printed circuit boards enables the equipping heads to be reloaded when they are not actively engaged in executing an equipping event.
