    • This exit device has a press bar and an elongated deadbolt adapted to be mounted horizontally adjacent the free end of the door and a pivoted retractor blade inward of the door. The blade is pivoted by the press bar and engages with its nose a projecting surface on the deadbolt and retracts the deadbolt. The blade also has a keeper contact surface which, as the door closes, is contacted by the keeper and the blade is pivoted inward to retract the deadbolt. The retractor blade also serves as an anti-friction bearing having a peripheral portion which rolls against the deadbolt and counters against the inward force on the deadbolt opposing to the opening force on the door.

    • A door closer assembly for controlling the operation of a door relative to a door frame includes a door closer mounted on the door and an articulated arm assembly which has one end attached to the door closer and the other end pivotally secured to a slide block which travels in a track mounted on the door frame. The slide block is affixed to a piston rod, which comprises part of a fluid piston-cylinder assembly also mounted on the door frame, and is located at the end of the track remote from the hinged edge of the door when the door is fully closed. When the door is opened beyond a predetermined angular position relative to the door frame the slide block moves within the track and in the direction of the hinged edge to another location within the track wherein it is releasably retained by the piston-cylinder assembly until the door is nearly fully closed by the reaction force of the door closer. As the door approaches its fully closed position a valve actuator mounted on the door operates a control valve to release the holding force of the piston-cylinder assembly and allow the slide block to be biased to its location at the remote end of the track by a spring contained within the piston-cylinder assembly.

    • A key operated cam lock including a shell and a rotary key plug and having axially elongated pin tumbler assemblies each comprising a plurality of tumbler elements including a pin tumbler carried by the key plug and a driver carried by the shell. A projection on an end of one of the tumbler elements of each tumbler assembly is received in a slot in the end of another associated element and serves to couple a driver to an associated pin tumbler when the key plug is in locked position. V-shaped bits on the key engagable with complementary V-shaped chisel tips on the pin tumblers axially and angularly position the pin tumbler assemblies in unlocked position wherein slots in various tumbler elements are aligned with annular grooves in the key plug eccentric to the axis of plug rotation. The projections escape from the slots and enter the grooves when the key plug is rotated from locked position toward an unlocked position. The tumbler elements having projections thereon may be axially symmetrical.

    • This lockset has a threaded inside sleeve extending out from its central housing, the sleeve enclosing the inside spindle for the lockset. An inside rose and handle assembly is provided, the rose having inward tabs. A nut is threaded onto the sleeve and has spaced openings about its end remote from the housing, the openings each leading to a series of steps in clockwise direction progressively closer to the housing. Each step has a tread and a riser so that when the handle is brought over the spindle and the rose is maneuvered so that the tabs fit into the openings and the rose is turned in a clockwise direction, the tabs will engage the closest riser to the housing that the thickness of the door will permit. Further clockwise turning of the rose will turn the nut and move the nut closer to the housing so that the treads engage the tabs and draw the rose/handle assembly inward to firmly and quickly install the lockset on the door.

    • A pin tumbler lock cylinder having axially elongated split pin tumbler assemblies each including a pin tumbler and a driver releasably coupled in locked position to prevent rotation of a key plug relative to a supporting cylinder shell. Insertion of a proper angularly bitted key into the key plug causes the tumbler assemblies to axially translate and rotate within bores, defined by the shell and the plug in its locked position, to predetermined releasing positions wherein a split line of each tumbler assembly is aligned with a shear line between the plug and the shell and each pin tumbler is free to separate from its associated driver to permit rotation of the key plug to an unlocked position. Means are provided to prevent rotation of the drivers and tumblers relatively to the shell and plug respectively, when the plug is rotated to an unlocked position.     • The exit device of the present invention has an elongated securing member, such as a deadbolt or the like, adapted to be mounted horizontally adjacent the free end of a door and a pivoting member inward of the door. The pivoting member has a peripheral portion which rolls against the securing member and serves as an anti-friction bearing and counters against the inward force on the securing member opposing the opening force on the door. In one embodiment, the pivoting member is pivoted by a press bar assembly, and engages and retracts the securing member. In another embodiment, the securing member is retracted by the actuating means. The pivoting member may also include a keeper contact surface which, as the door closes, is contacted by the keeper and the pivoting member is pivoted inward to retract the securing member.
