    • An implantable pump for infusing drugs or other chemicals or solutions into the body at a uniform slow flow rate. The pump comprises a housing divided into two chambers separated by a bellows, diaphragm or other pressure-communicating interphase. A volatile liquid partially filling one chamber provides 9 constant pressure energy source to act upon the interphase to force liquid infusate from the other chamber through a capillary tube or other flow-regulating resistance element to the infusion site. The infusate chamber is closed as by means of a self puncture sealing refill stopper. The pump is implanted with the refill stopper disposed under the skin and the pump is refilled periodically by injection through the skin.

    • A process for upgrading low-grade magnetite-containing iron ore with minimum fine grinding. The dry ore is first comminuted to between about three-fourths inch and 10 mesh particle size and magnetically separated. The dry tailing is discarded and the concentrate is ground to between about 20 and 100 mesh and again subjected to dry magnetic separation. The dry tailing is again discarded and the concentrate is then finely ground according to conventional practice and subjected to wet magnetic separation. About 90 percent or more of the tailing is discarded dry without fine grinding, permitting easy disposal without possible ecological damage due to lake and stream pollution.

    • An apparatus for implantation in the body to locally stimulate a mass of electrically excitable tissue without stimulating nearby tissue structures, and the method of so stimulating the tissue is described. The apparatus includes a plurality of electrodes, each of the electrodes including a pair of conductors for carrying signals of positive and negative polarity, each of said conductors having a plurality of electrically conductive coupling points for coupling to the mass of tissue. Apparatus is also described for providing timed sequenced electrical impulses to the plurality of electrodes so that only one of the electrodes has a voltage applied between its input terminals at any given time. An insulating backing placed between the electrodes and tissue structures surrounding the implanted stimulator for eliminating undesirable secondary tissue stimulation is also described. The method of applying controlled time-spaced electrical impulses to a mass of electrically excitable tissue structure for causing stimulation of that tissue structure is also described.
