    • A unit for coupling a displaceable operating member such as a bar or shaft with a regulating member, in particular a regulating rod of a fuel injection aggregate of an internal combustion engine, comprises a casing and a cam which can be clamped on the operating member, by means of a screw, to project therefrom. This cam which comprises an internally threaded nut engages the regulating member whose movement in one direction is limited by a stop or the like abutting organ. The operating member is provided with a transverse bore which can register with a bore in the casing, and a fixing pin is lodged in the casing bore and the transverse bore when the regulating members are in a basic position. In order to attain automatically the positioning of the cam and the operating member relative to each other, achieved by a basic adjustment, and to provide a relatively simple construction facilitating assembly of the unit, the internal nut threading is designed to be self-locking. The screw extends through the transverse bore of the operating member, and, in doing so, the direction of the force exerted on the cam by the screwing-down momentum of the screw corresponds to the direction of movement of the regulating member towards the stop.

    • This invention relates to an internal combustion engine, particularly to a diesel engine. The engine comprises a crankshaft, which is connected to each of a plurality of pistons by a connecting rod and a piston pin. Each connecting rod has two bearings for the piston pin and a crankpin of the crankshaft, respectively. In order to provide a desired piston clearance between the piston at its top dead center and the bottom of the cylinder head, at least one of the bearings of the connecting rod is provided with an eccentric ring disposed between the receiving bore and the bearing bushing. During the assembling of the engine, the eccentric ring is rotated to such a position that the desired piston clearance is obtained. The bearing ring is then fixed in the resulting rotational position.

    • The engine block of a reciprocating internal combustion engine comprises cylinders, cylinder heads, pistons, connecting rods, a crankshaft, and bearings for said parts. The engine block is mounted in an outer pan in such a manner that the pan is insulated against a transmission of structure-borne sound from the engine block. A frame-shaped flexible seal is disposed between the engine block and the top edge portion of the outer pan and surrounds the engine block. The oil seal extends into grooves which are formed in the top edge portion of the outer pan and in the engine block. To ensure that the oil seal will produce a perfect sealing action in spite of relative motion of the engine block and outer pan and that the oil seal will not render the assembling and disassembling of the engine more difficult, the oil seal consists of fins, which are force-fitted in the grooves, and a thin flexible profiled connecting portion, which connects the fins. The fins are provided on their side faces with a plurality of longitudinal ribs. The thickness of each fin, inclusive of the ribs, exceeds in an unstressed condition the width of the corresponding groove.

The engine block is sealed to the upper edge portion of the outer pan only by an oil seal. The outer pan consists of two parts, which are connected by screws. To prolong the service life of the annular supporting elements and to reduce the manufacturing costs, the outer pan has a parting plane which contains the axis of the crankshaft. The supporting elements are secured in the outer pan merely by being clamped between the two parts of the pan.
