    • A brake booster is disclosed which functions as an automatic brake as required. Bellows is disposed within a constant pressure chamber of the brake booster, and has a front end which is connected, by a first support member, to a bulge which is formed in the axial portion of a shell. A seal member is connected to the outer periphery of the first support member, and is held in abutment against the wall surface of the shell at a location radially outward of an inlet for the atmosphere. A communication channel is formed by a space between the first support member and an opposing wall surface of the shell and the bulge and the like. A communication is established between the internal space of the bellows and the inlet through the communication channel. This construction allows the overall length of the brake booster to be reduced as compared with the prior art in which a spacer is provided outside the shell.

    • An improvement of a valve mechanism used in a brake booster is disclosed. A valve element comprises a first and a second annular member, both formed of a metal and which are connected together in an axial orientation, and an elastic deformation which is connected to the rear side of the second annular member. A rubber piece mounted on the first annular member defines a first seat area, and a rubber piece mounted on the second annular member defines a second seat area. With this construction, a spring which is used to urge either seat area of the valve element into seating engagement with the respective valve seat may be compressed to a lower load than in the prior art, thus allowing an input required to initiate the operation of the brake booster to be reduced.

    • An improvement of an axial portion of a power piston and a retainer engaging therewith for a booster. An axial portion of the power piston is formed with a first tubular portion, which is provided with a second tubular portion located outward of the first tubular portion. The first tubular portion is fitted over a flange of a valve body from the rear side, and an annular retainer engages the second tubular portion from the front side, thereby securing the axial portion of the power piston, which is formed with the both tubular portions, on the flange of the valve body. The retainer includes a plurality of engaging pawls, which engage the outer peripheral surface of the second tubular portion of the power piston by point contact. This reduces the axial size of the valve body, and hence the axial size of the booster.

    • The present invention is to offer a scroll fluid machine of which the scroll machine proper is cooled sufficiently and effectively and characterized in that, a tubular jacket 26 is provided, said tubular jacket surrounds the outer circumferential surface of a motor 15(motor housing 13) keeping some distance from said surface and has an annular opening 17a on said motor facing to said scroll machine proper side, from which opening cooling gas induced by a cooling fan 16 is taken in, and a passage 19 connecting to the cooling space 17 formed by said outer circumferential surface of the motor and said tubular jacket is provided to guide and introduce said taken-in cooling gas to said scroll machine proper in the direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the rotation shaft of said motor. Thus, the back side of the scroll disk of said scroll machine proper is cooled by the cooling gas flowing in one direction behind the scroll disk.

    • A headrest to be installed to a seat back of an automotive seat. The headrest comprises a generally bag-shaped outer skin including a surface section which has first and second end edge portions. The first end edge portion includes a first part integral with the surface section, and a second part integral with the first part and generally parallel with the surface section. A slit is defined between the first part of the first end edge portion and the second end edge portion. The headrest is produced by a process including the following steps: (a) bending the first end edge portion inward of the surface section so that the second part of the first end edge portion is generally parallel with the surface section; (b) forming first insertion holes in the second part of the first end edge portion and second insertion holes in the surface section; (b) inserting headrest stays of a frame inside the bag-shaped outer skin through the slit formed; (d) inserting each headrest stay into each first insertion hole and each second insertion hole so that the head rest stay is projected out of the surface section; (e) disposing the bag-shaped outer skin inside a foaming-fabrication mold; and (f) pouring a raw material of a foam material through the slit into the bag-shaped outer skin so that the second end edge portion is brought into contact with the first part of the first end edge portion so as to tightly close the slit.
