摘要： An infected nail of a digit of a patient is treated using apparatus including an enclosure capable of housing at least a distal end of at least one digit of a patient having an infected nail. The apparatus also includes a heater and a nail infection agent-containing member housed within the enclosure and positionable against an infected nail at the distal end of a digit housed within the enclosure. The heater is in heat-transfer relationship with the nail infection agent. In this way heated nail infection agent can be maintained against an infected nail by the nail infection agent-containing member.

摘要： A heater module is described that includes a heat distribution plate including a bottom portion having first and second sides and a plurality of projections extending away from one of the sides. A heat source is provided for heating the heat distribution plate, and, optionally, a heating tray can be used to receive the heat source and heat distribution plate. The heater module is adapted to engage a sample purification tray having a plurality of purification and/or discharge columns which can extend through openings in the heater module and direct a sample into a sample receiving tray. Methods of heating samples using the heater module are also described.

摘要： A multi-well microfiltration apparatus and method are provided and feature a manual touch-off system for transferring pendent drops hanging from discharge-conduits of a discharge-conduit array to respective receiving wells or receiving holes of a corresponding receiving array, with minimum or no cross-contamination between the discharge conduits, or the receiving wells or receiving holes. The manual touch-off is achieved by manually shifting a carriage that supports one of the arrays, into a position whereat pendent drops of fluid hanging from the distal ends of the discharge conduits contact the inner sidewalls of the corresponding receiving wells or receiving holes of the receiving array.

摘要： The teachings provided herein are directed to a system and method for delivering an anti-infective agent through the nail of a subject having a nail infection. The system can comprise a drug delivery mechanism comprising an anti-infective agent and a heating element and a holding mechanism for releasably attaching the drug delivery mechanism to the digit having the infected nail. The drug delivery mechanism does not comprise a nail-infection-agent-containing member or sponge for receiving and delivering the anti-infective agent to the infected nail. In addition, the holding mechanism comprises a substantially open structure that covers the infected nail and does not enclose the digit. The system facilitates an enhanced trans-keratin drug delivery of the anti-infective agent through the infected nail in a dark, warm, and moist environment that prevents the growth of fungi in the infected nail. The teachings also include a heatable bandage for treating an infected nail.
