    • Low-pressure fire-extinguishing liquid is converted into mist. A fire-extinguishing spray nozzle (10) comprises a main body (30) and an obstacle (36). The main body (30) has a port (40) for radially injecting the fire-extinguishing liquid. The obstacle (36) has an opposing surface (60) and is opposite to the port (40). The opposing surface (60) is arranged within a radial-injection region (102) of the fire-extinguishing liquid radially injected from the port (40). One part of the fire-extinguishing liquid radially injected from the port (40) collides with the opposing surface (60) and is reflected therefrom. The other part of the fire-extinguishing liquid radially injected from the port (40) passes around the opposing surface (60). The one part of the fire-extinguishing liquid is reflected from the opposing surface (60) and the other part passes around the opposing surface (60). In consequence, the fire-extinguishing liquid (72) reflected from the opposing surface (60) collides with the fire-extinguishing liquid (70) passing around the supposing surface (60). The collision between the fire-extinguishing liquids produces mist (74).

    • A borehole logging tool system includes a surface system, a logging array, and a logging cable providing power supply and data paths connecting the logging array to the surface system, wherein the logging array includes a series of discrete sondes connected together. The sondes in the logging array, for example a borehole seismic logging array, are connected to their neighbours by means of lengths of logging cable. Such cable can be the same as that connecting the logging array to the surface system. The logging array can also include a master controller module which communicates with the surface system and which includes a first controller module which connects to the surface system and a second controller which controls operation of the sondes in the logging array independently of any other borehole logging tools connected to the surface system. The master controller can include a data buffer for handling data from the array and a clock which can be synchronised with a clock at the surface and which can be used in the control of the sondes in the array. Adopting such an arrangement with a borehole seismic logging array allows the sondes to continue acquiring data continuously under control of the master controller module irrespective of the transmission of data to the surface by the telemetry system.

The obstacle (36) has an outer peripheral surface formed in the shape of a truncated-conical inclined surface (62). This enables the fire-extinguishing liquid (70) radially injected from the port (40) and passing around the obstacle (36) to collide with the fire-extinguishing liquid (72) radially injected from the port (40) and reflected from the inclined surface (62) so as to produce mist (74) of fire-extinguishing liquid. When producing the mist (74) by such an action, the fire-extinguishing liquid radially injected from the port (40) may have a low pressure. As a result, it is possible to provide a fire-extinguishing spray nozzle (10) which converts the low-pressure fire-extinguishing liquid into mist.

    • A borehole tool including a tool body having and an anchoring mechanism, the anchoring mechanism having a drive mechanism including a motor, drive shaft, and clutch; an anchor arm moveable between first and second positions relative to the tool body; a push rod connecting the anchor arm to the drive mechanism; and a spring acting to bias the arm into a first position relative to the tool body. The push rod extends through the clutch mechanism and is engaged by the spring to bias the arm into the first position, and is also driven by the drive mechanism through the clutch to move the arm between the first and second position. The push rod may be connected to the anchor arm by a link. Measurement devices may be used to determine the position of the anchor arm or the tool body.
