    • A dryer and a dryer control method using a sensing unit and a timer to vary drying operations depending on the state of drying laundry are disclosed. The method for controlling an automatic dryer having a drying part including a heater, a fan, and a drum includes the steps of operating the drying part while monitoring an internal temperature and an internal humidity of the drum, continuously operating the heater, the fan, and the drum until the internal temperature reaches a predetermined temperature, and operating the fan intermittently when the internal temperature reaches the predetermined temperature. The method further includes operating the heater intermittently when the internal humidity reaches a predetermined humidity, discontinuing heater operation upon lapse of a first predetermined time, discontinuing fan operation upon lapse of a second predetermined time, and discontinuing drum operation upon lapse of a third predetermined time.

    • A drier module, for use in a drier having a drier motor and one of two heat generation devices, namely gas or electric, is an interchange module of a drier of a gas or electric type and may be connected to a drier motor and to a gas control circuit of a gas drier or to an electric heater of an electric drier. During drier assembly, the module is adaptively modified, for example, by setting a switch position according to a desired mode, i.e., the intended drier type. The module includes a selection switch for selecting one of a gas mode and an electric mode; a first connector providing a connection to the drier motor and to a first heat generation device; a second connector providing a connection to the first heat generation device and to a second heat generation device; a microprocessor, electrically connected to the first and second connectors, for detecting a presence of an error condition with respect to the selected mode of the selection switch, based on the connections of the first and second connectors; a first relay, electrically connected between the microprocessor and first connector, for controlling power to the drier motor; a second relay, electrically connected between the microprocessor and first connector, for controlling power to the one of the two heat generation devices; a power supply for providing, under control of the microcomputer, operational power for the drier motor and first and second heat generation devices; and a display for displaying a message indicating the presence of the error condition.

    • A power supply is provided, by which power consumption of an electrical apparatus having a normal mode and a standby mode is reduced by including a dedicated power converter for the standby mode, to increase operational efficiency by means of feeding back an output voltage in standby mode to supply a constant voltage. The power supply includes a DC power unit for outputting a DC voltage; a microcomputer for outputting a mode control signal according to the operational mode of the electrical apparatus; a first power converter, controlled by the mode control signal, for converting the DC voltage output of the DC power unit into at least one operation voltage required for powering a plurality of loads; and a second power converter for supplying the microcomputer with a regulated feedback voltage in the standby mode of the electrical apparatus; and a switch for controlling an application of the DC voltage output of the DC power unit to the microcomputer through the second power converter, according to the mode of the electrical apparatus.
