    • A vertical die casting machine of a vertically clamping type provided with a hydraulic piston-cylinder to actuate movable parting plates disposed between an injection sleeve and a runner hole in a stationary mold for constricting a melt passage, the parting plates defining an axial through-hole in a clamped state. The parting plates prevent a semi-solidified part of the melt "shell" formed in the sleeve before an injection operation from intruding into a die cavity with the liquid melt. In an embodiment with a narrow runner hole having a diameter smaller than that of the sleeve, the parting plates move together to shear a cold melt runner from the cold melt bisket formed in the sleeve so that a cast product may be upwardly removed from the stationary mold. In another embodiment with an enlarged runner hole having a diameter not less than that of the sleeve, the parting plates move away from each other to allow an integral piece including the bisket formed in the sleeve, the runner formed in the runner hole, and the cast product, to be removed upward through the stationary mold and the enlarged runner hole.

    • A vertical injection apparatus for a die casting machine is disclosed. The setting is made such that a timing for vacuum evacuation applied to a portion into which air enters is suitably earlier than that for vacuum evacuation applied to a die cavity. Thus, this allows a solidification layer tightly formed on the end surface of a plunger tip to prevent air from entering into the die cavity, making it possible to desirably carry out injection and to remarkably improve quality of casting products. By improving the structure for holding a vacuum evacuating tube, this apparatus can facilitate repairing word required when the evacuating tube is clogged with hot molten metal.

    • A casting appartaus comprises; a mold including a cavity for solidifying molten metal therein, and a runner and a biscuit portion for introducing the molten metal into the cavity; a unit removably mounted in the biscuit portion for feeding the molten metal through the biscuit portion and runner into the cavity; and a feeding rod disposed in the mold for freely protruding into the runner, and a unit for reciprocating the feeding rod. A mechanism for selecting communication and non-communication between the biscuit portion and the runner may be formed in the casting apparatus. After the molten metal is filled in the mold, the feeding rod is actuated to compress the molten metal in the mold.
