    • A room temperature curing composition of this invention comprises an emulsion obtained by multi-stage emulsion polymerization of monomers, the emulsion comprising emulsion particles, a core of which comprises (A) 1 to 30% by weight of silyl group-containing vinyl monomer, (B) 70 to 99% by weight of vinyl monomer copolymerizable with component (A), the outermost shell of which comprises (A) 0.1 to 30% by weight of silyl group-containing vinyl monomer and (B) 40 to 99.4% by weight of vinyl monomer copolymerizable with component (A), and (D) 0.5 to 30% by weight of hydrophilic vinyl monomer. The room temperature curing composition of this invention has a stable silyl group, and a much improved film-forming ability after long-term storage and it also shows excellent mechanical stability, water-resistance, durability and white enamel gloss.

    • A curable composition comprising(A) a vinyl resin having at least one hydrolyzable silyl group in one molecule wherein the main chain substantially consists of a vinyl polymer and having no segment of a resin which has polymerizable double bonds at both ends of the main chain and a glass transition temperature of not more than 0.degree. C.;(B) a modified resin having at least one hydrolyzable silyl group in one molecule which is obtained by polymerizing(a) a resin having polymerizable double bonds at both ends of the main chain and a glass transition temperature of not more than O.degree. C.,(b) a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing vinyl monomer, and(c) a vinyl monomer having no hydrolyzable silyl group; and(C) a curing catalyst. The composition of the present invention enables to prepare a top coating having the excellent physical property balance between hardness and impact resistance or that between elongation and stain resistance.

    • A room temperature cross-linkable aqueous composition which contains an emulsion-polymerized copolymer comprising (I) a reaction product prepared by reacting (A) a monomer having at least one polymerizable double bond and a silyl group represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 : monovalent hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-10 alkyl, aryl and aralkyl, X: a halogen, alkoxy, hydroxyl, acyloxy, aminoxy, phenoxy, thioalkoxy, or amino, a: 0, 1 or 2, and (B) a basic compound; and (II) a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with said (I) reaction product, and a process for preparing the same.
