    • An optical waveguide (106) with directional microprisms (116) and multidirectional light sources (110)(112) are provided for providing overlapping morphing images (104) and information (102) on a display (124) of a touch screen mobile phone or other electronic device (100). Microprisms can be patterned in the shape of a particular design, character, icon or other image. The microprisms can include: first microprisms (118) sensitive to light propagating in only one direction; second microprisms (120) sensitive to light propagating in a different direction, and a third microprisms (122) sensitive to light propagation in multiple directions. When light is directed into the waveguide (106) in a direction to which a portion of the microprisms (116) are sensitive, a fraction of that light will be directed upward and out of the waveguide (106) by those microprisms sensitive to light propagated in that direction. Controlling, switching or selectively activating the light sources (110)(112) results in different images (104) which are displayed and illuminated on the display (124) of the electronic device (100).

    • A method for facilitating a mobile device to participate in a session hosted on a server is disclosed. In the disclosed method, the mobile device requests the server to permit the mobile device to participate in the session. In response to the request, the mobile device receives a set of restrictions. The set of restrictions comprises one or more restrictions that the mobile device requires to impose on one or more applications residing in the mobile device. The mobile device determines whether to accept or reject the received set of restrictions. Upon determining to accept the restrictions, the mobile device sends an acceptance message to the server, and in response, the server allows the mobile device to access the session hosted on the server.

    • A first communication device configured for communications with a second communications device, and related system and method of operation, are disclosed. In at least some embodiments, the first device includes a first transceiver allowing the first device to send and receive electromagnetic communication signals, and a second transceiver allowing the first device to send and receive capacitive communication signals. The first device includes a control device coupled to the first and second transceivers, whereby the first device is configured for achieving both electromagnetic communications and capacitive communications, respectively, with the second device. In some further embodiments, the first device operates normally in a capacitive mode of communication and only switches to an electromagnetic mode of communication when the capacitive mode is unavailable or inadequate, and/or the first device only communicates with other devices in an electromagnetic mode if those other devices are also capable of communication via the capacitive mode.
