摘要： A knife drive mechanism of a sewing machine includes a drive assembly 1 for converting rotary motion of a drive shaft 10 into a swing motion and an upper-knife drive assembly 2 for converting the swing motion into an up-and-down motion of an upper knife 20. The upper-knife drive assembly 2 has a clutch 3 for preventing/permitting transmission of the up-and-down motion to the knife 20. Even during stitching, engagement/disengagement of the clutch 3 can be effected, which permits the knife 20 to be connected to and disconnected from its drive assembly, thereby permitting the scissoring cutting to be started or stopped. When a surface 42 of the first swing member 4 urges a projection 52 of a second swing member 5 to cause the knife 20 to move downward at the completion of cutting, the knife 20 itself serves as a cloth-feed guide to prevent misalignment of the cloth and breakage of the sewing needle or upper and lower loopers.

The device comprises the rotating hook bobbin case holder (80) storing a bobbin case storing a bobbin around which the bobbin thread is wrapped and detachably fixed to a machine frame and locked to the machine frame by rotating hook bobbin case holder stopper (90) to stop its rotation and a rotating hook (70) in which the rotating hook bobbin case holder (80) is installed, having a sword tip (75), and rotated by a lower shaft. The thread feeding apparatus for the sewing machine has upstream grippers for respectively gripping an upper looper thread and a lower looper thread, closed by a stitch forming device at the time of the stitch forming and opened at the time of the cloth feeding, downstream grippers for gripping the respective threads introduced from the respective upstream grippers, opened at the time of the stitch forming so that the respective threads are pulled by the stitch forming device and closed at the time of cloth feeding, and reciprocators which are respectively driven in a synchronous manner with a left needle, a right needle, an upper looper and a lower looper, at the time of cloth feeding. The reciprocators shift the respective threads in thread paths extending between the respective opened upstream grippers and the respective closed downstream grippers to pull off a thread quantity necessary for forming a stitch and, at the time of stitch forming, release the respective threads.

摘要： A thread feeding device for a sewing machine, is simply constructed but can feed a plurality of looper threads individually in amounts necessary for each seam with adjustment of the tensions of the looper threads by one adjustment knob. The thread feeding device includes a shaft fixed on the machine body orthogonally of the feeding direction of a plurality of threads. A rotor is mounted on the shaft as to rotate intermittently in one direction only. A plurality of thread holders are provided on the rotor for holding and letting off the threads individually. In each thread holder the radius from the center of rotation of the rotor to the position where the thread is held is set to a value corresponding to the individual length of feed of the thread.

摘要： A looper mechanism for use in a sewing machine which includes a needle moved substantially vertically through a needle plate while inclined in a feed direction of cloth. The looper mechanism includes a lower looper which performs an arcuate reciprocating motion crosswise to the locus of the needle at the lower side of the needle plate, and an upper looper which performs an elliptically-arcuate reciprocating motion crosswise to the locus of the lower looper at the side of the needle plate and crosswise to the locus of the needle at the upper side of the needle. A needle thread which is passed through the needle, an lower-looper thread passed through the lower looper and an upper-looper thread passed through the upper looper being cross with one another to perform sewing. At least one of the upper looper and the lower looper has a hollow structure through which a looper thread is passed from a thread inlet of the looper to a tapered thread outlet. The hollow structure is a tube member and a groove engageable with the tube member, or the combination of a groove and a lid member covering the groove. The thread inlet of the looper may be funnel-shaped.
