    • There is provided an electrical cable splice assembly, including a splice case having two ports for receiving a pair of cable ends. The conductors within the cable are adapted to be spliced together inside the splice closure. A pair of cable clamping devices are each firmly attached to each cable a certain distance removed from the splice closure. A rigid member, having a pair of rigid arms, attaches the cable clamping devices directly to one another so that any strain applied on one cable is transferred to the other and the splices within the splice closure do not feel the effects of the strain. There is further provided a clamping ring attached to the assembly for receiving a rod to be buried in the ground such that the height of the assembly with respect to the ground can be varied during installation.

    • There is provided an improved flat electrical communications cable which includes a plurality of coplaner pairs of elongated, insulated conductors. The pairs of conductors are embedded in a jacket which supports the cable and maintains the spacing among the conductors and pairs. The spacing between conductors in a pair is substantially less than the spacing between each adjacent pair. The jacket is thicker in the regions around each pair and thinner in the regions between each pair, thus forming the valleys and ridges on each side of the jacket. An elongated metal shield covers at least one side of the jacket. The shield conforms to and is contiguous with the valleys and ridges resulting in somewhat of a sinusoidal cross-sectional appearance of the shield. Each conductor includes a dual insulation, the inner insulation being made from a flame retardant material and the outer insulation being made from a different material from the jacket.

    • There is provided a high density electrical connector for use on a panel which receives a plurality of closely spaced connectors. The connector includes two intermateable halves. One of the connector halves includes an elongated base having wire termination members on one side and associated electrical contacts on the other side. A hood covers the wire termination side of the base. An electrical cable containing a plurality of insulated wires enters on the side of the hood adjacent to a closely spaced adjoining connector at an angle greater than 0° but less than 90° with respect to the base so that the cable will clear the adjoining connector without the need to unduly bend the cable. The top of the hood may be sloped downwardly from its cable receiving side to the opposing side.
