    • The present invention is to provide a mass mail detection device that eliminates the need for preparation of rules or learning in advance and operates at a high speed. Electronic mail collecting means analyzes the electronic mail delivery protocol that flows on the network, and extracts an electronic mail main text from the electronic mail traffic that flows on the network. Next, characteristic quantity conversion means calculates a number of hash values from the electronic mail main text, as the characteristic quantity of the mail. Finally, mass mail detection means compares the newly received electronic mail with the stored past electronic mails, and determines the similarity in accordance with a specific standard. If determined as being similar, the new mail is determined as a candidate for a mass mail (similar mails), and a prescribed number or more of similar mails are determined as a mass mail.

    • A data scramble transmission system with a data transmission link coupled between sending and receiving ends is provided. The link adopts transmission frames each of which is constituted by data and control bits periodically added to the data. The system includes a scramble unit located at the sending end, for detecting each of the transmission frames of an input signal stream, for interchanging bit-stream positions of data portion in the detected transmission frame in accordance with a predetermined order to produce interchanged signal stream, and for outputting the interchanged signal stream, and a descramble unit located at the receiving end which receives the interchanged signal stream from the sending end, for detecting each of the transmission frames of the received interchanged signal stream, for reinterchanging bit-stream positions of data portion in the detected transmission frame so as to reconstitute the signal stream inputted into the scramble unit at the sending end, and for outputting the reconstituted signal stream.

    • An ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) exchange system for high speed packet exchange with a fixed length packet is implemented by a plurality of cell handlers (10-1 through 10-n) each related to each ATM channel, and a plurality of buses coupled with the cell handlers. An input user cell is subject to add routing information including an output cell handler number (403) and an output virtual channel identifier (404) by a virtual channel converter (12) and a routing header adder (13). The user cell which has routing information is forwarded to the bus. The cell on the bus is read out by all the cell handlers, and the particular cell handler in which the number of cell handlers coincide with the cell handler number in routing information takes the cell on the bus. In the cell handler, the cell itself read out of the bus is stored in the cell buffer memory (16), and the address of the cell buffer memory (16) of the cell is stored in the queue buffer (18). When an output channel is available, the cell is forwarded to the output channel from the cell buffer memory (16) based upon the address of the cell stored in the queue buffer (18). A plurality of queue buffers may be provided for delay time control. Congestion control is possible for loss control of a cell when an output channel is congested, based upon the number of cells waiting in the queue buffer.

    • An image forming apparatus that can improve image quality by correcting for variations in the potential characteristics of a photosensitive member and enhance the responsiveness of an image forming operation. The photosensitive member is rotated by a drive unit and exposed to light from an exposure unit. A first generation unit periodically generates a first signal. A second generation unit generates a second signal. A plurality of generation periods of the second signals are included in one generation period of the first signal. A control unit, while the photosensitive member is controlled to accelerate, counts the second signals in response to input of the first signal, identifies an exposure position when the photosensitive member is switched from the acceleration control to constant-speed control, reads correction data corresponding to the identified exposure position from a storage unit, and controls the light quantity of the exposure unit.
