    • An actuator comprising a reversible electric motor, which over a gearing, drives an activation element which can move back and forth. The activation element is of the non-self-locking type. Furthermore the motor and gearing are of a non self locking type. A brake holds the activation element in any position, when the electric motor is inactive, said brake can be released by means of a release mechanism. The motor is used as generator when the brake is released and the generator voltage from it is used to adjust the velocity of the activation element. Thus, a quick release is provided, where the activation element can be disengaged and adjusted evading gear and motor, and where the movement of the activation element, during the disengagement, occurs with a controlled velocity.

    • An actuator with an electric motor which drives an activation element, such as a rotatable arm or a longitudinally movable rod, via a transmission. The transmission has at least two transmission stages, the first one being formed by a worm drive, the second one being formed by a crown and bevel wheel (5; 4a, 4b), the bevel wheel (4a, 4b) being driven by the worm wheel (3a, 3b), and the crown wheel (5) having a power take-off (15). The transmission may readily be formed so that the axis of the crown wheel (5) is in direct extension of the worm (2). A relatively compact transmission with a high gearing may be achieved hereby, and with worm wheel as well as crown and bevel wheel of plastics the transmission is also comparatively noiseless.

    • A linear actuator, preferably for sickbeds and beds for domestic use, comprises a reversible electric motor (2) which, via a reduction gear, drives a spindle (4) with a nut (5) secured against rotation so that an activating element (6) connected with the nut is moved to and fro in response to the direction of rotation of the motor. In an emergency, the actuator may be driven manually with a hand crank, as a rear attachment, with which the actuator is secured, has a longitudinal opening in the longitudinal axis of the spindle, whereby the hand crank may be caused to engage the spindle. For this purpose, a shaft member is mounted in the rear attachment, said shaft member being engaged with the spindle and protruding rearwards from the rear attachment with one end. Control of the motor typically takes place via an H-bridge so that the motor does not short-circuit when the actuator is operated manually, it is ensured that the motor is not self-locking when the actuator is operated manually.
