    • Pyrotechnical fuel contained in a gas generator of an airbag module accommodated in a module housing self-ignites at a predetermined temperature elevated above normal ambient temperatures. A module housing of the airbag module has a wall section with a predetermined opening closed with respect to gas flow at normal ambient temperatures. The gas generator has at least a first outflow opening and a second outflow opening, the second outflow opening being closed when the gas generator is actuated at normal ambient temperatures. The wall section of the module housing is designed in such a way that on self-ignition of the pyrotechnical fuel at at least the predetermines temperature, the predetermined opening is created in the wall section, and the second outflow opening is opened with respect to gas flow by creation of the predetermined opening.

    • A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises a module housing, a gas bag having a folded region, a gas generator, an unfolding opening via which the gas bag emerges in the case of restraint, a covering for the unfolding opening, and a flexible traction transfer device to expose the unfolding opening. The traction transfer device is connected with the covering. Further, the module comprises an intermediate wall provided between the folded region of the gas bag and the gas generator and connected with the traction transfer device. The intermediate wall is shifted by gas generated on activation of the gas generator in such a manner that the traction transfer device draws the covering away from the unfolding opening.

    • A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system has a gas bag, a gas generator being in flow connection with the gas bag, and at least one cover part adapted to cover the gas bag against a passenger compartment when the gas bag module is mounted in a vehicle. The cover part has a hinge portion which allows the cover part to pivot from a closed condition into an opened condition in which the gas bag is able to exit from the gas bag module, and further having an edge opposite the hinge portion. At least one traction transfer device is provided which has a first and a second end and is adapted to exert a tensile force on the cover part after activation of the gas generator. The first end of the traction transfer device is attached to the edge of the cover part so that the cover part opens in a direction towards the gas bag due to the tensile force exerted by the traction transfer device.

    • A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system has a generally trough-shaped housing, a folded gas bag and an insert for insertion into the housing. The housing has a face wall with an opening. The gas bag module further comprises a tubular inflator. The tubular inflator is inserted into the housing through the opening in the face wall of the housing. The housing has an inner side with supporting faces for the insert. The insert has integral rim portions surrounded by an inflation opening in the gas bag. The insert is provided with an integral guide plate extending substantially parallel to inner surface areas of the housing and slightly spaced away therefrom. The insert comprises, opposite the opening in the face wall of the housing, a corresponding opening for passage of the inflator. The inflator protrudes outwardly from the opening in the face wall of the housing. The insert is clamped at the rim portions against the supporting faces of the housing.
