摘要： An optical recording/reproducing apparatus comprising an audio and video (A/V) codec having a function for separating luminance and color components. A video decoder converts an analog video signal into a digital video signal; an A/V codec having a pre-compression processing unit separates luminance and color components from the converted digital video signal; an encoder compresses the digital video signal having the separated luminance and color components into a predetermined compression format; and a decoder decodes the digital video signal compressed in the predetermined compression format. A memory provides a storage space as the A/V codec carries out signal processing. Accordingly, the size and production cost of the video decoder may be reduced.

The optical reproducing apparatus includes an optical drive for reading data stored in an optical medium, a digital signal processor and controller for decoding the read data, a signal converter for signal-converting the decoded data into a signal of a certain format, and a digital visual interface (DVI) for converting and outputting the converted signal into a digital signal compliant to a DVI specification. Accordingly, the data recorded in the optical medium is reproduced and output as a digital signal compliant to the DVI specification.

摘要： Provided are an apparatus and method thereof for displaying video signals on a display screen of a display apparatus, wherein the video signals are received by the display apparatus from a plurality of input sources. The method includes: determining whether a medium input from a first input source of the display apparatus is in a loading process; if the medium is in the loading process, displaying in a sub-window on the display screen a video signal output from the first input source of the display apparatus; if the medium is in the loading process, displaying in a main window on the display screen a video signal output from a second input source of the display apparatus. The video signal from the first input source may be downscaled and transmitted to the display device so as to conserve resources in both the first input source and the display device.

The digital recording device includes a signal input unit to receive an analog signal, a CGMS signal detector to detect a CGMS signal from the analog signal, a noise signal determiner to determine whether the CGMS signal is a noise signal, and a controller to determine whether to permit copying with respect to the analog signal according to information included in the GCMS signal if the CGMS signal is not determined to be a noise signal.
