    • Disclosed is a brake booster for motor vehicles, the control valve (12) of which is operable, irrespective of an actuating rod (7) that displaces a valve piston (9), via an electromagnet (20), which actuates a third sealing seat (24) allowing ventilation of the working chamber (3). The third sealing seat (24) is provided on a sleeve (32) that cooperates with the electromagnet (20), and a ring (36) is arranged, which is displaceable in relation to the third sealing seat (24) and is supported on the sleeve (32) by the intermediary of an elastic or compressible element (37). In order to improve the dynamics and the sound behavior of the brake booster, the ring (36) is arranged radially within the sleeve (32) in such a manner that its areas (33), by which it is in contact with the valve body (10), at least partly release the passages (19) provided in the valve body (10).

    • The invention relates to a method permitting the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic powders which are used for the preparation of heavy media for the float-sink dressing of minerals, to be tested. To this end, the invention provides for the ferromagnetic powder to be magnetized in a magnetic steady field at a field strength within the range 600 to 1000 amperes per cm and the magnetized ferromagnetic powder to be demagnetized in a cyclicly decreasing magnetic alternating field at a field strength within the range 1000 to 1500 amperes per cm. Next, the ferromagnetic powder so pretreated is heaped up, in the center portion of a circular plate made from dielectric material and the circular plate is placed on an iron core-provided coil. An alternating current voltage of 180 to 260 volts is applied to the coil, thereby effecting the occurrence of alternating fields of 180 to 220 amperes per cm in the center portion of the circular plate. The ferromagnetic powder heaped up is observed for the figure it is forming under the influence of the alternating fields. The formation of a closed figure around the center portion of the plate indicates unlimited qualification of the ferromagnetic powder for use in a heavy medium suspension.

    • The invention relates to a method permitting ferromagnetic powders for use in heavy medium suspensions for the float-sink dressing of minerals to be readily tested as to their efficiency in magnetic separation and demagnetization. To this end, the invention provides(a) for a heavy medium suspension specimen to be removed from the purification cycle directly downstream of the magnetic separation stage, for it to be freed from impurities by decantation, and its relative sedimentation velocity to be determined with the aid of a sedimentometer;(b) for a heavy medium suspension specimen to be removed from the purification cycle downstream of the demagnetization stage, for it to be freed from impurities by decantation, and for its relative sedimentation velocity to be determined with the aid of a sedimentometer; and(c) for the heavy medium suspension specimen according to (b) to be demagnetized in a cyclicly decreasing magnetic alternating field with a maximum field strength which is 1.1 to 1.5 times the maximum field strength of the magnetic separator, and for the relative sedimentation velocity of the specimen to be determined with the aid of sedimentometer. The ferromagnetic powder is reliably separable magnetically and demagnetizable with the aid of a demagnetizing means in the event of the relative sedimentation velocity according to (a) being at least ten times greater than the relative sedimentation velocity according to (c), and the relative sedimentation velocity according to (c) being at most 10% lower than that according to (b).
