    • A bicycle battery holder is basically provided with a battery holder body, an operating member and a battery engaging member. The battery holder body includes a contact portion. The operating member is movably mounted to the battery holder body between a first position and a second position. The battery engaging member is pivotally coupled to the operating member on an axle such that the battery engaging member moves in a first direction with respect to the battery holder body to a battery retaining position as the operating member moves from the first position to the second position. The contact portion of the battery holder body limits rotational movement of the operating member around an axis of the axle to maintain the operating member in the first position while the operating member is disposed in the first position.

    • A variable-shape mirror has a driver portion, which includes a piezoelectric film and first and second electrode films that sandwich it therebetween, and a substrate arranged on the first electrode film to support the driver portion. As the driver portion is driven, the shape of a mirror film is varied. The substrate is formed of at least one material selected from the group of Si, SiO2, and MgO. The piezoelectric film is formed of PZT or of a perovskite oxide that contains Nb and that is the same kind as PZT. The first electrode film is formed of a plurality of layers of different compositions, and, of those layers, the one formed on the substrate is a metal layer of a composition containing at least one element selected from the group of Ti, Cr, and W and the one formed on the piezoelectric film is a metal layer of a composition containing at least one element selected from the group of Pt, Ir, and Ru.

    • A shape of a mirror face of a shape-deformable mirror that reduces aberration and has a simple configuration is calculated in a simple method. The shape of the mirror face of the shape-deformable mirror 14a is approximately calculated using fourth and fifth terms of the Zernike Polynomials. Furthermore, one of the Zernike coefficients C4 and C5, which configure the fourth and fifth terms of the Zernike Polynomials respectively, is expressed as a value with the other coefficient as a variable by using the following expression: C5/C4=2{1−cos(2φ)}/(cos(2φ)+3). The expression is substituted in the Zernike Polynomials, thereby the shape of the mirror face of the shape-deformable mirror 14a is approximated as a linear function, and thus can be calculated in a simple calculation.
