    • In a method for monitoring a stationary condition of a drive device, a monitoring device provides the drive device with a temporally varying monitoring signal which, when a sensor device connected to the drive device functions properly, modulates a sensor output signal of the sensor device in accordance with the monitoring input signal. The monitoring device receives the sensor signal and monitors it for the presence of a corresponding signal component. In the absence of such a signal component, the monitoring device controls a safety device which converts the drive device into a safe state. When the drive device is controlled by means of at least two phase-shifted current regulators, it is possible for the monitoring device to monitor an output signal of at least one of the current regulators for constancy and to control the safety device when the output signal of the at least one current regulator changes.

    • A method for safely limiting the torque of a frequency-converter-fed three-phase motor operated under field-oriented control (controlled torque) is disclosed. Actual phase current values of the three-phase motor are used to calculate a sum current signal on two channels which is checked for a sum current value of zero. A rotor position angle is determined on the two channels, and torque-forming current components of the two orthogonal field-oriented current components of a stator current space vector are calculated on the two channels as a function of the measured phase currents and the rotor position angle. The three-phase motor is switched on the two channels without applying a torque if the sum value is not equal to zero and/or if the torque-forming current components calculated on the two channels are not equal. This produces a safety function “safe torque limiting” which can be integrated in commercially available frequency converters.

    • For the alternating drive of switches of a pulse frequency converter acting on a common AC-side terminal, the control pulses of the switches must be jointly latched at each alternation. For each switch, the control signal applied for its latching may be regarded as a set value for its switch voltage, whereas the actual switch voltage occurs only if after a storage time this switch actually extinguishes. By integration of the deviance, therefore, a correction signal is formed which is proportional to the storage time of the last fired switch or to the voltage-time area occurring at the output during the latch time. Thereby the distorting influence of voltage-time areas which are caused due to the spread between units of different latch times of different switches can be taken into consideration in the formation of the width-modulated control pulses.
