    • In a seal (1) of shafts (7) relative to a medium, being received in housing-fixed support rings (4, 5), it is provided that in an embodiment of the seal with a clamp-in element (3) and an angled element with a seal lip (2) arranged via an intermediate part (6) whereby a contact pressure is applied via a spring (10). For this it is provided that the spring (10) is embodied in a receiving groove (11) as a spring pocket with a free space (12) for the spring in the pressureless state. A nose (13) as a retaining element for the inserted spring is arranged on the membrane as an intermediate part (6) above the spring pocket (11). The membrane is adjustable upon changing a tilt angle (Ψ) by pressure loading up to reaching a limit pressure for contacting on an allocated housing wall (16) such as an extended support ring (5). Thereby an enlarged bottom side contact angle (β) is established in the angled region with the seal lip (2).

    • A system to adjust to the changing draft of ocean-going ships on the aft seal system equipped with several outwardly-directed gaskets and one inwardly-directed gasket, in which, between each two outwardly-directed gaskets a ring-shaped chamber is reserved, to which a feed line for compressed air is connected. Integrated into the feed line is a pressure control mechanism and a discharge channel which can periodically empty into the interior of the ship (bilge), whereby the pressure in the ring-shaped chamber is always maintained slightly below the outside water pressure. The system is characterized by the fact that an electronic draft measurement system is located on the ship's hull to supply electric signals which correspond to the current draft, which signals actuate the pressure control mechanism. In addition, for the lubrication system, there are two pressure control mechanisms pressurized by compressed air, and which are also actuated by the signals of the draft measurement system, whereby these pressure control mechanisms are each connected to the gas cushion of their own externally airtight containers which are pressurized with lubricant and in which a specified level is maintained, whereby the one container empties into a ring-shaped chamber between the inwardly-directed gasket and the outwardly-directed gasket, and the other container empties into the lubricant chamber.

    • A safety device on an aft seal system equipped with at least two gaskets for a ship's propeller shaft, which propeller shaft is sealed with respect to the outside water and with respect to a lubricant chamber, and on which a ring-shaped chamber is reserved between each two gaskets, to which chamber are connected a feed line for compressed air and a discharge channel which can be emptied by means of a solenoid valve which opens and closes periodically. The pressure in the ring-shaped chamber is kept always slightly lower than the respective outside water pressure and the lubricant pressure by means of a pressure regulation mechanism. In the feed line to the ring-shaped chamber, downstream of the pressure regulation mechanism there is a solenoid valve, and downstream of that there is an airtight container with a float switch, whereby when the container is full of fluid due to a clogging of the discharge channel, the solenoid valve closes and thereby protects the pressure regulation mechanism and the other units against flooding.
