    • An electro discharge machining apparatus comprises an electrode configured to machine a desired feature in a workpiece, a pulse generator configured to energize the electrode and the workpiece to opposite electrical polarities, a machining solution source configured to pass a machining solution between the electrode and the workpiece, and a servomotor configured to drive the electrode to move relative to the workpiece. The electro discharge machining apparatus further comprises at least one detection element configured to detect machining signals, and a controller. The controller controls the pulse generator and the servomotor to machine the workpiece according to a plurality of first process parameters predetermined therein and analyzes the detected machining signals to generate a first response signal to activate a plurality of second process parameters predetermined therein and different from the first process parameters to machine the workpiece. An electro discharge machining method is also presented.

    • A small utility vehicle, such as a motorized scooter, has an attached vehicle supporting wheel. This wheel includes a solid rubber or plastic tire removeably mounted to a central hub. The tire when mounted to the hub rolls on the ground at a peripheral ground contact surface and defines on opposite sidewall surfaces with the solid mass of the tire there between. Each sidewall surface has periodically spaced grooves. A vehicle attached brake of the compression caliper type having two flat opposing brake shoe surfaces bears on the tire sidewalls to effect braking. During braking, one flat opposing brake shoe surface of the compression caliper bears on one sidewall surface and the remaining flat opposing brake shoe surface of the compression caliper bears on the remaining sidewall surface squeezing the solid mass of the tire there between. When the caliper is closed, friction between each sidewall and flat opposing brake shoe surface effects braking, with the result that the wheel tire serendipitous serves as the brake disc. The grooves at the sidewall surfaces on the wheel tire serve to wipe water and debris from the interface of the sidewall surfaces and compression brake shoe surfaces of the caliper brake to maintain constant friction.

    • A fluid coupling is combined with a one way clutch for the direct drive of a wheel from a small engine. The fluid coupling is mounted in cantilevered support or two ended bearing support from a small engine and has a small diameter inner driven shaft and a larger diameter out wheel driving shaft for contacting and directly driving a wheel. The inner driven shaft connects to a pump having a relatively larger outer diameter than either the driven or driving shaft. This pump is mounted on the opposite side of the driven wheel from the engine. The one way clutch is mounted between the inner and outer driven shafts and engages with only one direction of relative rotation between the wheel and engine. At any time that the speed of the engine is less than the current rotating speed of the wheel, the clutch engages. Thus, when the engine is stopped and compression starting the engine from the wheel is desired, the ignition of the engine is connected and forward movement of the wheel directly drives the engine for compression starting. Likewise, and where dynamic braking is desired, the engine ignition is interrupted and results in compression engagement of the engine to the wheel with dynamic braking resulting.
