摘要： A method of and apparatus for the transfer of toner particles from a developed photoconductor, or the like, to an object transfer surface by effecting charge flow between the photoconductor and the transfer surface, whereby the net electrostatic field acting upon the particles is reversed. The apparatus includes an insulating sheet provided with a conductive layer on the transfer object side. The insulating sheet is disposed between the photoconductor and transfer object and is apertured to permit the movement of toner particles to the object when the electrostatic field is reversed.

摘要： The specification teaches a dielectric belt having a metal backing. The belt is uniformly charged by some type of charging device such as a corona beam whereafter it is uniformly toned by a magnetic brush. Then, a stencil or screen which is capable of acting as an ion modulator is used to screen a flow of ions into a pattern to strike the coated belt surface. The ions will neutralize the charge in an image pattern and thus allow the image pattern toner to be loosely held in a background of tightly attracted toner. Thereafter, a plain paper sheet is rolled in contact with the surface to pick up the loosely bonded toner and extract an image from the belt onto the plain paper sheet. The belt is not cleaned, but is recharged to bring up the charge up to full strength in the formerly discharged areas as well as in the areas not discharged and the entire belt is retoned to a uniform density once again for a repeat with the same or a new modulating screen or stencil.

摘要： A control circuit is described for governing the maximum quantity of planographic masters present in a printing system at all times. A device for producing planographic masters is coupled to a cyclically operable printing machine to produce predetermined quantities of printed copies correcponding to origianl documents inserted into the master making apparatus. The printing system, comprising the master maker and the printing machine, since it contains only a predetermined number of master rest positions, may malfunction if more than a predetermined quantity of planographic masters are present in the system at any one time. The control circuit assures that at the start of an operation no more than this predetermined quantity of masters enters the system and thereafter maintains this quantity by only allowing a master to enter the system as one is withdrawn from the system.

摘要： A transceiver device operable to a transmitting mode for sending to a remote receiver data signals corresponding to information recorded on a document and to a receiving mode for receiving data signals from a remote source, converting the signals into visible information and producing a hard copy thereof. A preferred embodiment of the transceiver device uses a unique light collecting tube for receiving light reflected from a pattern of information on an original document and to convey the light to a photosensitive device which converts the light into transmittable data signals. The efficiency of the light collecting tube permits the use of the relatively low light output scanning beam of a cathode ray tube for illuminating the original document in the transmitting mode. The same cathode ray tube is used for imaging a copy sheet in the receiving mode.
