    • A window crank assembly includes a guide rail mounted substantially parallel to the direction of motion of a window pane to be raised and lowered by the crank assembly; a sled mounted on the guide rail for back-and-forth travel thereon; a drive cable attached to the sled for moving the sled on the guide rail; a plug-and-socket joint for supporting a lower end of the guide rail for a pivotal motion about a lower foot point in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane of the window pane; and a support for engaging the guide rail at a location thereof spaced from the lower end.     • A force measuring hub for a wheel supported on a carrier has a first annular component adapted for a coaxial attachment to the wheel and provided with a plurality of radial webs having elongation-sensing strips and a second annular component adapted for a coaxial attachment to the carrier and being operatively coupled to the first annular component such that the radial webs lie in a force path passing between the wheel and the carrier. The first annular component is a flat disc comprising an inner zone adapted to be secured to the wheel and an outer rim surrounding the inner zone. The radial webs are arranged in a single plane between the inner zone and the outer rim. The first annular component further has a plurality of extensions attached to the outer rim and oriented radially inwardly therefrom. The extensions are located in the above-noted single plane in respective spaces defined between adjoining radial webs. Each extension terminates at a clearance from the inner zone. The second annular component is also disc-shaped and includes mounting projections extending into respective clearances between the inner zone and the respective extension of the first annular component.

    • The impact-element of this invention includes an energy-absorbing, elongated deformation member which is secured to an elongated, dimensionally stable carrier that is, in turn, mounted below the dashboard of the vehicle. The energy-absorbing deformation forces are generally independent of the impact direction. In one embodiment of the invention, the energy-absorbing deformation member is an elongated, hollow body which, in transverse cross section, is ring-shaped at least in the portion opposing the knees of the occupants of the vehicle. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the elongated, energy-absorbing member is hollow and is box-shaped in transverse cross section. In the second embodiment of the invention, a dimensionally stable, elongated cross piece is diagonally positioned within the box-shaped energy-absorbing member and contacts the upper end of the carrier. Stiffening means in the form of corrugations may be provided in both the box-shaped, energy-absorbing member and the cross piece of the second embodiment.

    • A rotary-latch lock, specifically for the door of a vehicle, has a rotary locking assembly, a pivotally supported intermediate lever that meshes with the assembly and a pivotally supported main actuating lever with one end urged into contact with the intermediate lever by a spring connected to the other end. The force of the spring is overcome by external force applied to a power transmitting organ connected to the main lever. The surface of the intermediate lever that is contacted by the main lever has a curvature such that the contact is essentially at a point or line on the intermediate lever. Also, the origins for the radii of curvature for the surface are located on the side of the pivot point of the intermediate lever that is farthest from the locking assembly. With this arrangement the force of the main lever on the intermediate lever does not impair the functioning of the lock.

    • A safety belt arrangement for a vehicle seat includes a shoulder safety belt mounted at one end adjacent the seat portion of the vehicle seat. A positioning device disposes the safety belt so that the belt extends from its mounting point adjacent the seat portion of the seat diagonally across the back portion of the seat to a holding point adjacent the back portion of the seat. The positioning device is preferably mounted on the rear of the frame for the back portion of the vehicle seat adjacent the shoulders of a passenger seated in the seat. The device is adjustable to vary, at least in a vertical direction, the location of the holding point to which the seat belt extends. Since the positioning device is adjustable, the shoulder safety belt can be adjusted to the most favorable and effective position for an occupant of the seat.

    • The method of the present invention is particularly characterized by the event of periodically changing the contact pressure between the friction shoe and the braking body at the mutual contact of the raised area and the counter area whereby, during the periodic changing of the contact pressure, a signal is generated to thereby indicate critical wear of the lining. Periodic changing of the contact pressure is indicated, via the control mechanism to the individual operating of the brake. As a further step in the method of the present invention there is provided periodic changing of the braking couple. The signal which is generated during the periodic changing of the braking couple may be in the form of pulsations of the vehicle deceleration. The raised area may be constructed in the form of a cam having a parabolically cured abutting surface. In addition, the counter area may be provided with a covering layer having a wearability which is of a lower order of magnitude of that of the material of the raised area but which is of a higher order of magnitude than that of the friction material of the brake lining.
