摘要： The system provides new methods and processes for the reaction of polymeric/oligomeric substrates with reactants comprising alkyne/alkene and/or protic nucleophilic moieties to afford functionalized polymeric/oligomeric products through the utilization of homogenous and/or heterogenous gold catalysis. More specifically, the system provides routes for reaction of polymeric/oligomeric substrates comprising varying degrees of aromatic character with alkyne/alkene bearing molecules to afford a functionalized polymeric/oligomeric product. The system additionally provides pathways wherein the inverse methodology is realized, providing functionalized materials from the reaction of polymeric substrates bearing alkyne/alkene moieties with aromatic and/or protic nucleophilic reagents. Furthermore, in a tangential methodology, the system affords functionalized polymeric materials from the reaction of polymeric substrates bearing protic nucleophilic substituents with alkyne/alkene containing molecules. The system provides pathways for the facile modification of commodity polymer materials in order to produce value-added materials utilizing current polymer infrastructure, commodity polymer feedstocks, and post-consumer plastic waste.

摘要： An oral suction device includes a suction catheter having a suction portion at a first end, a sponge surrounding the suction portion, a hydrogel or non-hydrogel polymer coating on the sponge, and a suction tubing connector on a second end opposite the first end. In some aspects the coating is a hydrogel coating that does not have macropores. A method of making an oral suction device may include dip-coating a sponge and forming macropores in the coating during the coating process.

摘要： A waterborne alternative polyurethane composition is provided which comprises a reaction product of: an azidated polyol; and a waterborne poly(alkynyl carbamate) prepolymer comprising a reaction product of a polyisocyanate and from 1 wt. % to 20 wt. % of an alkynol-polyether having a formula (I), R1—R2—O—R3—OH (I), wherein, R1=a monovalent group selected from either HC≡C— or HC≡C—CO—, R2=a divalent alkylene group from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and may be straight chain or branched and may contain cyclic moieties, and R3=a polyethylene glycol with number average molecular weight from 300-1,200 g/mol, wherein the wt. % is based on the weight of the prepolymer, wherein reaction of the azidated polyol and the waterborne poly(alkynyl carbamate) occurs at a temperature of from 20° C. to 200° C. and optionally in the presence of a catalyst. The inclusion of an alkynol-polyether does not materially alter the performance properties and reactivity of the waterborne polyurethane composition relative to a solventborne polyurethane control composition. Inclusion of the alkynol-polyether reduces the need for organic solvents by allowing for the use of water as a carrier. The inventive waterborne alternative polyurethane compositions may find use in or as coatings, adhesives, sealants, films, elastomers, castings, foams, and composites.

The inventive alternative polyurethane compositions may be used to provide solventborne or waterborne coatings, adhesives, sealants, films, elastomers, castings, foams, and composites.

The invention relates to coating and polymer compositions and related methods derived from a biodegradable natural polysaccharide compound such as chitosan, pectin, heparin, and combinations thereof reacted to a cyclic oxide compound, such as an oxetane, oxolane or oxepane compound. The compositions and methods of the present invention exhibit self-repairing properties upon exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. 摘要： A new, facile, general one-phase method of generating thiol-functionalized transition metal nanoparticles and surfaces modified by (co)polymers synthesized by the RAFT method is described. The method includes the steps of forming a (co)polymer in aqueous solution using the RAFT methodology, forming a colloidal transition metal precursor solution from an appropriate transition metal; adding the metal precursor solution or surface to the (co)polymer solution, adding a reducing agent into the solution to reduce the metal colloid in situ to produce the stabilized nanoparticles or surface, and isolating the stabilized nanoparticles or surface in a manner such that aggregation is minimized. The functionalized surfaces generated using these methods can further undergo planar surface modifications, such as functionalization with a variety of different chemical groups, expanding their utility and application.
