    • In an adjustable foot pedal assembly for a vehicle, a brake pedal is supported on a carrier, which is adjustable fore and aft. A brake valve has a valve body fixed relative to the path of carrier movement, and a plunger movable in a direction transverse to the path of carrier movement. A transfer arm, pivoted on the carrier, is operatively connected to the foot pedal and the plunger, for effecting movement of the plunger in response to depression of the foot pedal so that the relationship between the movement of the foot pedal and the responsive movement of the plunger is independent of the position of the carrier. The brake valve does not need to be moved as the pedal position is adjusted, and the brake pedal characteristics are therefore unaffected by adjustment of the position of the pedal.

    • An adjustment assembly (10) for an integral shifter cable interlock is provided. The assembly includes (10) a cable assembly (11) having a conduit (12) defining an axis and a core element (14) disposed within the conduit (12) movable along the axis. An interlock housing (24) is supported by the cable assembly (11) with the terminal assembly at least partially disposed within the interlock housing (24).     • A cable operated interlock system between the gear selector lever (12) of an automatic transmission and the brake pedal (42) restrains the gear selector lever (12) in the Park position until the brake pedal (42) is first depressed. The interlock system includes a shifter cable (68) having one end (70) connected to an L-shaped pedal actuator (62) and another end (72) connected to an inhibitor pin (74) adjacent the gear selector lever (12). A compressible tip (82) is telescopically received over the end of the pedal actuator (62), with a spring (84) trapped therebetween for yielding when the brake pedal (42) returns to its rest position in the event the gear selector lever (12) resides in one of its drive positions. The interlock system may also include an ignition cable (90) extending between an ignition switch (52) of the automobile and the pedal actuator (62). The ignition cable (90) prevents displacement of the pedal actuator (62) and the attached shifter cable (68) unless the ignition switch (52) is in a Run position. Conversely, the ignition cable (90) will not permit the ignition switch (52) to return to its Off position until the gear selector lever (12) has been placed in its Park position.
