    • A process and a device for avoiding regulator instabilities in surge limit regulators for protecting a turbocompressor from surging if a high proportional gain is selected for the surge limit regulator by a blow-off via a blow-off valve. The control of the velocity of closing of the blow-off valve over time is performed by a gradient limiter of asymmetric design, wherein no velocity limitation acts in the opening direction, but a freely parameterizable velocity limitation of the closing process of the blow-off valve is provided in the closing direction. The gradient limiter is inserted between the surge limit regulator, which receives the control signals on the actual value of flow and the desired value of flow from a subtracter, and the control line for a pneumatic or hydraulic operating device of the blow-off valve.

    • The present invention concerns a slab (1) for cooling a blast furnace and made of a mass of copper or high-copper alloy forged or rolled into a blank.The edges of the slab accommodate narrower vertical and horizontal part-way bores (13 & 14) disposed around vertical part-way bores (3).Coolant is supplied to and removed from the narrower bores through sections (5 & 5') of pipe and to and from the other bores though connections (2 & 2').The slab can be additionally secured to the furnace's armor by way of a cutout (12) in the surface facing away from the interior of the furnace and engaged by a bolt mounted on the armor. The slab is secured to the furnace by fasteners that engage threaded bores (9) in the slab.

    • A rotary compressor with enmeshment between a helically geared male rotor and a helically geared female rotor. The torsion shaft (4), furthermore, could be coupled with the rotor (12) at the pressure side of the bearing housing (15).

    • A controlled power supply in which an electric arc is used as a loading element. A single phase ac-to-dc invertor is provided with a matching transformer and a main rectifier and diodes which form the bridge and are connected to the matching transformer. The invertor has a controllable output. The bridge has a diagonal corresponding to an output of the rectifier and electrodes between which an electric arc can be initiated. a circuit for controlling the voltage across the electrodes includes a comparator to compare an actual rectified voltage with a reference value. The comparator provides for changing positions of the electrodes relative to each other. The single-phase ac-to-dc invertor is provided with two phase-shifting circuits that are connected in series and to the matching transformer. One of these phase-shifting circuits is a choke, whereas the other phase-shifting circuit is a capacitor. Each phase-shifting circuit is connected to a corresponding input of the main rectifier. The phase-shifting circuits are connected to an output of the main rectifier in the same polarity with diodes of the main rectifier connected to the electrodes.

The vehicle has a laying device which includes a laying support with cantilevering rails traveling on rollers. Telescoping stays are located at ends of the laying support, and a left-side track-laying device and a right-side track-laying device are mounted on telescoping shafts. The telescoping shafts are displaced hydraulically across the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. Each of the track-laying device on the laying support has provision for placing the track support sections. A piston-and-cylinder is located on arms mounted at ends of a horizontal one of the shafts, whereas piston-and-cylinder is mounted on ends of a rear one of the shafts.

    • A method of strip mining coal or other minerals by way of continuous-operation winning equipment with a cylindrical winning tool that excavates strips with a more or less rectangular section. The rectangle is approximately as wide as the tool and no higher than half the tool's diameter as the equipment advances. The equipment is connected by a system of conveyor belts to a loader that deposits the excavated minerals onto a face conveyor. The face conveyor can be shifted more or less parallel to the direction the equipment moves in. A quadrilateral district is exposed as the equipment travels first along one short side, then along one long side, and finally along the other short side. Its tool lifts out a strip of mineral. The equipment turns at each end along an arc of approximately one eighth to one fourth of a circle to end up in a ramp surface that occurs when the tool is lowered and raised. A terraced wall is created by lifting out many strips as the equipment's travel is shifted to the side. The ramps of the various strips combine into one ramp surface with a slope that allows the equipment to travel over it under its own power. Once the wall has been created, the blocks of mineral in the district, which comprise several levels one above another and one adjacent to another, are mined in succession starting with the floor created along with the wall. Each level comprises an equal number of adjacent strips.
