    • A dispensing gun for fluent products such as viscous adhesives and sealants. The gun includes a removably mounted nozzle and fittings for attachment to a product source such as a can or a hose. A valve body has product inlet and outlet passages with flow being controlled therethrough by a valve that includes a nose portion seated in the valve body, and a rod that extends through the nose portion of the valve and seats on tapered surfaces inside the end of the nozzle. The valve contains a shrouded internal spring biasing the valve to a closed position. A trigger engages the yoke carrying the valve and the valving rod and moves the yoke so that the rod and valve move between open, closed and intermediate positions. In one preferred form, the valving rod may be adjusted between positions wherein more or less product is dispensed in response to full trigger movement.

    • The present invention discloses a foam frothing alternative for blowing or frothing single component foams using gases which are incapable of being liquified within the limits of DOT aerosol cans, referred to herein as non-liquefiable gases. In this invention, it is demonstrated that non-liquefiable gases such as CO.sub.2 and N.sub.2 O can be used to provide foams using conventional single component foam chemical raw materials. The present invention provides an adhesive/sealant, expanded by a non-liquefiable gas propelled from a container initially and expanded by a blowing agent consisting primarily or exclusively of a non-liquefiable gas and formulated from a moisture curable polyurethane prepolymer using a low molecular weight isocyanate of two or more functionality. In one or more variations, the compositions of the present invention contain solubility enhancers for non-liquefiable gases such as CO.sub.2 or supplemental propellants/liquefiable blowing agents, as well as other additives such as, for example, catalysts, fire retardants, and surfactants which include, but are not limited to cell openers.

    • According to the present invention, a gun is provided which has a valve assembly receiver and a product discharge valve assembly which are adapted to cooperate with each other and which may be readily and accurately secured together in a fast, fool proof manner. The product discharge valve assembly may be readily removed by hand without the use of tools, and misalignment between the inlet passages on the valve assembly and the outlet passages in the gun body are eliminated. The outlet and inlet ports respectively are aligned securely and positively by the combination of a V-grooved self-centering arrangement on the receiver and a counterpart arrangement on the discharge valve assembly. In a preferred embodiment further cooperating alignment is provided by a locking stud unit. The discharge valve assembly includes a reciprocable valve having a stem portion which may include a quick release lock arrangement for cooperation with an operating rod of the discharge gun, whereby the valve may be readily removed and replaced for maintenance in use.

    • An expansion control mixing and dispensing nozzle adapted for attachment to an associated two-component liquid dispensing gun for mixing and dispensing liquid foamable products. The nozzle includes a mixing chamber, a mixing chamber outlet tube and an outlet tube cover arranged in co-axial relation. The outlet tube cover including an outlet slot or passage in its outer end portion; its inner end surrounds a part of the mixing chamber outlet tube so as to define an annular auxiliary chamber therebetween. The mixing chamber has spaced apart inlet ports for receiving individual liquid components and a baffle or the like to impart a swirling action to the components as they expand in the mixing chamber, a pre-discharge chamber lies between the outlet slot and the end of the outlet cover.

    • A hand held dispenser for chemical foam compositions having enhanced service life and being capable of delivering higher outputs of foam products is provided. In accordance with the invention, a dispenser cartridge is mounted in sealed movable relation to a cartridge carrier. Reliable face to face compressible seals are employed to accomplish primary porting to pressurized sources of chemical components. The dispenser cartridge does not rely on a sealed interface between a cylindrical valving rod and a dimensionally unstable TEFLON.RTM. bushing for porting which provides improved sealing performance. Multiple porting from two or more pressurized sources of chemical components is also facilitated by the sliding seal feature.
