摘要： A planetary wheel drive uses a brake having a stamped spring plate which includes a plurality of spring stabilizer connections. Each one of the plurality of springs is mechanically bonded to a respective one of the plurality of spring stabilizer connections. A brake piston includes a bore therethrough and resides in sliding engagement with the stationary spindle. The brake piston is generally cylindrically shaped with an inner portion and an outer portion. The plurality of coil springs reside between said spring stabilizers and said inner shoulder of said brake piston. Pressurized hydraulic fluid releases the brake.

摘要： A hybrid electric vehicle includes a high voltage DC bus and an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine is mechanically coupled to a non self-excited generator/motor which is preferably a switched reluctance machine. A power inverter electrically and bidirectionally couples the high voltage DC bus to the non self-excited switched reluctance generator/motor. Front and rear axle dual DC-AC inverters electrically and bidirectionally couple two traction AC non self-excited switched reluctance motors/gear reducers to the high voltage DC bus for moving the vehicle and for regenerating power. An ultracapacitor coupled to the high voltage DC bus. A bidirectional DC-DC converter interposed between a low voltage battery and the high voltage DC bus transfers energy to the high voltage DC bus and ultracapacitor to ensure that the non self-excited switched reluctance generator/motor operating in the motor mode is able to start the engine.

摘要： An overload protection device in combination with a prime mover and gearbox transmission supplies torque through a gearbox transmission to a load. An input shaft with is driven by the prime mover and rotates therewith. An external spline on the input shaft mates with an input gear having an internal spline. Upon overload of the gearbox transmission, the input shaft fractures an annular groove in the input shaft. A bushing prevents travel of the portion of the input shaft which is driven by the prime mover and which continues to spin after the fracture.

摘要： A steerable wheel motor assembly for moving construction lifts and scaffold equipment is disclosed and claimed which includes a spindle bracket configured to be pivotably mounted at an upper end to a steering mechanism for rotation about a vertical axis. The output shaft is supported by a first set of bearings and a second set of bearings with the second set of bearings including a speed and direction sensor integral therewith for detecting the speed and direction of rotation of the output shaft. The sensor outputs to a control system which controls the speed and direction of the equipment. A thrust washer is used to position the output sun gear accurately reducing manufacturing and maintenance costs of the assembly. Use of the thrust washer reduces the cost of machining the output shaft to a high tolerance.

摘要： A bearing lubrication device in a right angle gear reducer includes a gear housing having an interior portion and a lubricating fluid reservoir therein. An oil slinger, rotating pinion shaft, pinion shaft housing, and bearings for supporting the pinion shaft within the pinion shaft housing work together to provide a continuous supply of oil to the bearings. The pinion shaft includes two radially and longitudinally extending passageways therethrough which supply oil from a recess in one end of the pinion shaft to the bearings. Oil is slung from the reservoir into the recess of the rotating pinion shaft where it is forced outwardly and through the passageways to a chamber formed by the rotating pinion shaft, shaft housing and bearings. The roller bearings pump the oil from the chamber back to the fluid reservoir. Oil passageways in the shaft housing enable the return of oil from one bearing set.

摘要： An epicyclic steering differential for use with a vehicle that is driven by tracks provides steering control and differential action to the vehicle by way of a set of differential cluster gears disposed about the pitch circle of the control gears with which the cluster set mates, engaging concurrently each of two adjacent cluster gears of the set, and driving two oppositely disposed drive gears that ultimately transmit power to the tracks. Each cluster gear has a pitch diameter equal in size to that of the control gears. The clusters are arrayed about the control gears so that the pitch diameter of adjacent clusters are mutually tangent and tangent also with the control gear pitch circle. In this way cluster gear transmits power at two points of meshing contact.

摘要： A disengage mechanism for a gear drive including rotatable drive and driven members with one of the members having first splines. A drive actuator having second splines and being connected to rotate with one of the members and axially movable with respect thereto between first and second positions. In the first position the first and second splines are engaged and the drive and driven members are connected to rotate together and in the second position the splines are disengaged and the drive and driven members are disconnected. First means are provided for moving the drive actuator to the first position and second means move the actuator to the second position. The first means include a spring which constantly urges the drive actuator to the first position and the second means comprises a rotatable cam member which positively engages the drive actuator to move it to the second position. Means are provided for locking the cam member to the housing of the disengage mechanism and indicia are provided so that an operator of the device will know whether the cam member is either in its first position or its second position. Additionally, the cam member is provided with a detent within which a cam follower resides in the first position of the cam member which prevents accidental movement of the drive actuator from its first position.
