    • A steering apparatus for a front wheel drive tractor comprising, at each of opposite lateral sides thereof, a front axle, a front axle case housing the front axle, a kingpin, a transmission case provided in an outer end region of the front axle case to be pivotable about the kingpin, and a front wheel attached to the transmission case and including a hub shaft. The kingpin is operatively connected to the front axle through a bevel gear transmission, and the hub shaft is operatively connected to the kingpin through a bevel gear transmission and a planetary reduction mechanism. The front wheel has a substantially zero camber angle, and the kingpin is inclined such that a lower portion of the transmission case disposed inwardly with respect to a center of the tractor is substantially contained inside a rim of the front wheel.

    • A drive axle device having the disk brake and planetary gear reducing unit at the outer end of the drive shaft and a wheel shaft outside said disk brake and gear reducing unit. The axle tube which incorporates the drive shaft terminates in a flanged portion at its outer end and encompasses the disk brake in the flanged portion. The disk is positioned on the drive shaft near the outer end thereof. Further out on the drive shaft is a sun gear which forms a part of the gear reducing unit. Also included in the latter unit are planetary gears which mesh with the sun gear, a planetary carrier for rotatably supporting the planetary gears, and a fixed ring gear which is fixed to a gear housing and meshes with the planetary gears. The gear housing is bolted to the flanged portion of the axle tube and encloses the gear reducing unit. A wheel shaft in line with the drive shaft is fixed on the planetary carrier to rotate therewith. A first bearing is between the wheel shaft and the gear housing, and a second bearing is between the planetary carrier and the gear housing.

    • A planet gear type hub gear for transmitting torque between a drive shaft and a vehicle wheel. The end portion of the drive shaft carries a sunwheel which cooperates with a plurality of planet wheels mounted on a planet wheel holder secured to the vehicle wheel. The planet wheels are meshing with a gear ring that is mounted on a fixed gear ring retainer, and that is locked axially on said retainer by means of at least one locking means. Said locking means engages grooves on both the gear ring and the gear ring retainer. In the planet wheel holder there is at least one passage via which the locking means can be operated by means of an elongate tool so as to make the gear ring, together with sunwheel planet wheels and planet wheel holder, axially removable from the gear ring retainer in a single unit enclosed by the hub casing.

    • An improved drive assembly includes a gerotor-type hydraulic motor having a housing connected to a frame. An output member is rotatably mounted on a hollow spindle which is integrally formed with the motor housing. Operation of the motor rotates an input shaft which is disposed within the spindle and is connected with the output member through a gear arrangement. In order to tend to minimize the axial extent of the drive assembly, the gear arrangement is located inwardly of an outer end of the spindle. The gear arrangement includes a central or sun gear which is disposed within the spindle. A plurality of idler gears extend through openings formed in the spindle into engagement with the central gear. These idler gears meshingly engage a ring gear which is fixedly connected with the output member. The gerotor-type hydraulic motor includes a wobble shaft which is connected with the input shaft to the central gear by a coupling member. A stop member is movable in the spindle to disengage the input shaft from the central gear to deactivate the drive assembly.
