    • A security device affixable to a package includes a housing, a strap, and a crossover connector carried by a cable. The strap is formed with a toothed channel containing a plurality of teeth that lockingly engage with a plurality of locking fingers formed on the housing. The strap is selectively and slidably received within the housing and cannot be removed without the use of a special key. When the key is inserted into the housing, the pins of the key simultaneously deflect the locking fingers out of locking engagement with the teeth of the toothed channel, thus permitting the strap to be removed from the housing. The cable and crossover connector are configured such that the cable is in a figure-8 configuration, thus permitting a single cable to carry the housing and the strap of the security device, and further permitting a single cable to extend across all six surfaces of the parallelepiped package.

    • A container for storing and displaying recorded media, such as compact discs, video cassettes, audio cassettes, etc., has a support surface, preferably rotatably mounted. A plurality of spaced ribs are formed on the support surface and extend upwardly therefrom, forming individual storage slots for receiving storage boxes containing the recorded media. A small area of serrated teeth is formed on the support surface adjacent a front end opening of each of the slots. The serrated teeth engage a side of the storage box and retard the outward sliding movement of the box as the container is rotated for review of the various recorded media stored therein.

The tab clamps against the peripheral edge of the disc when the lid is closed to immovably secure the disc within the storage compartment, on a first pair of adjacent ribs and on a second pair of ribs located diametrically from the first pair of ribs.

    • A recording medium security container and associated release key which disengages a lock mechanism of the security container enabling the security container to be moved to an open position for removing the contents thereof. The security container has a base, a lid pivotally mounted on the base, and a lock mechanism for securing the lid in a locked position on the base. The key has a grasp base and a plurality of tabs extending outwardly from the base for disengaging the lock mechanism of the security container.     • A container for shipping and storing an article such as a video cassette has a base formed by a pair of spaced end walls, and a pair of spaced side walls. Integrally molded to the base is a lid having at least one destructible locking tang formed thereon which passes through an aperture formed in one of the side walls of the base. When the locking tang is inserted through the aperture, a shoulder on the tang engages the base wall and may only be disengaged from the wall by destructibly removing the locking tang from the lid. A tear groove preferably is formed in a hinge portion of the tang to facilitate removal of the tang from the lid. Also, provided on the lid and base are a plurality of projections to provide at least one snap-fit engagement between the lid and the base to latch the lid and the base together once the locking tang has been removed. A plurality of shock absorbing tabs are formed in the storage compartment to space the video cassette from the walls to reduce damage thereto during shipment.

    • A reusable plastic package for securely holding and displaying a compact disc. A housing forms a storage compartment having an access opening for receiving and retaining therein a plastic storage box containing a compact disc. A slide plate is mounted on the housing and is slidably moved across the access opening between locked and unlocked positions to retain the box within the storage compartment. The slide plate has locking projections which engage locking tabs on the housing to maintain the slide plate in locked position until released by a manually operated key. A pair of orienting tabs are formed on the slide plate and move through openings formed in a rear wall of the storage compartment and into offset openings formed in the compact disc storage box when the slide plate is moved to the locked position to ensure that the storage box is oriented in the desired position in the storage compartment for viewing of graphics cards contained thereon.
