    • The invention provides a method of injection molding a part having an undercut region and a method of assembling a jointed structure from several parts. A two-part mold has a common cavity with part of the cavity in each mold part. A combined pin-in-a-sleeve extends into the cavity in one of the mold parts in order to form a bore in a part to be molded in that cavity. The pin provides a portion shaped to form a first undercut region in the bore. A second pin extends into the cavity in the other of the two mold parts. The two pins are aligned to form a single bore in the molded part while in the cavity. The second pin also has a portion shaped to form a second undercut region in the bore. After an injection molded part is made, the mold opens a limited and discrete distance to allow the molded part to be released from the hold of the mold cavity. Then, the mold opens fully for the continuation of a multi-step operation to pull the pins out of the undercut regions. The invention further provides a support system made up of a plurality of alternating rods and sleeves. Each sleeve forms a pair of sockets configured to movably receive and retain one of the first or second ends of adjacent rods, forming a bendable linkage. A cover is provided to surround the linkage, and a coupler is provided to secure the cover to the linkage. An electrical switch may be provided within one of the joints between sleeves and rods whereby movement of the rod relative to the sleeve actuates the switch. A method of assembling a jointed structure from several parts is also provided. At least two discrete parts having ends that cooperate to form a movable joint between the parts are placed in a groove formed in a plate. The parts are prevented from being displaced out of the groove when pressure is applied to at least one end of the groove to force the cooperating ends of the parts together to form joints which link the parts. The jointed linkage can then be removed from the plate as an assembled structure.

    • The invention provides a method of injection molding a part having an undercut region and a method of assembling a jointed structure from several parts. A two-part mold has a common cavity with part of the cavity in each mold part. The invention further provides a support system made up of a plurality of alternating rods and sleeves. A cover is provided to surround the linkage, and a coupler is provided to secure the cover to the linkage. At least two discrete parts having ends that cooperate to form a movable joint between the parts are placed in a groove formed in a plate. The parts are prevented from being displaced out of the groove when pressure is applied to at least one end of the groove to force the cooperating ends of the parts together to form joints which link the parts. The jointed linkage can then be removed from the plate as an assembled structure.

The malfunction detection device comprises a signal device and/or a shutdown device for the drive, which are/is activated if the actual value lies on the impermissible side of the pertinent limit value.

    • An extraction tool for extracting a head rest retainer sleeve from a vehicle seat assembly comprising a tubular member seated within an opening in the vehicle seat assembly. The tubular member has a first end adjacent the opening and a second end disposed in the seat. A cylindrical, elongated retainer sleeve is received in the tubular member for slidably receiving a mounting post of a head rest. The retainer sleeve has a head portion covering the first end of the tubular member, a plurality of flexible locking wedges for engaging the second end of the tubular member to retain the sleeve in the tubular member and seat, and an inner wall defining an aperture extending between the head portion and the locking wedges for receiving the mounting post of the head rest. The extraction tool includes an cylindrical, elongated body member having upper and lower ends. The upper end includes a gripping surface for positioning the extraction tool into the retainer sleeve and the lower end includes an engagement extraction member slidably received within the retainer sleeve for engaging and compressing the locking wedges to unlock the sleeve from the tubular member. The engagement extraction member includes a plurality of flexible finger elements corresponding with the locking wedges and extending upwardly and outwardly from the body member which engage and compress the locking wedges inwardly and away from the tubular member to allow the retaining sleeve to be removed from the tubular member on the extraction tool.

    • A lenticular pattern forming roll, used for forming a lenticular screen, includes a chill roll and a lenticular sleeve positioned on the chill roll. The lenticular sleeve has a lenticular pattern formed on an outer surface for forming a corresponding lenticular pattern in a plastic sheet. The sleeve may be readily manufactured and transported to a desired location to be installed on the chill roll. The lenticular pattern forming roll may be readily used in combination with an extruder for extruding a hot plastic sheet to form the lenticular screen. The sleeve may also be removed from the chill roll and transported for resurfacing and without requiring transporting of the chill roll. The lenticular sleeve may preferably comprise a nickel-phosphorous composition defining at least a radially outermost portion of the sleeve in which the lenticular pattern is formed. More particularly, the nickel-phosphorous composition is preferably an amorphous nickel-phosphorous composition comprising nickel in a range of about 75 to 86 percent by weight, and phosphorous in a range of about 14 to 25 percent by weight. The nickel-phosphorous composition may be formed by electrodepositing or electroless depositing. The lenticular sleeve may be slit and flattened to define a flat lenticular body for molding a lenticular screen.

    • A stent crimping tool for firmly and uniformly crimping a stent onto a balloon catheter is constructed from a crimping section holding the stent and the balloon catheter therein, wherein the crimping is actuated by a shaft having an input end and an output end, engaging the crimping section at the output end. The shaft has a detent formed into the input end. A gripping member has an internal cavity to receive the input end, and includes a hole proximate to the shaft, wherein a ball bearing and a compression spring are located within the hole to bias the ball bearing toward the shaft and to engage the detent. When a torque is applied to the gripping member, it is transmitted through the ball bearing to the shaft; if the torque exceeds a predetermined magnitude, it overcomes the force of the spring on the ball bearing causing the bearing to slide out of the detent thereby disconnecting the applied torque from the shaft. The crimping section can be a rubber tube having a lumen holding the stent and catheter. When the shaft compresses the rubber tube as it advances, the lumen collapses and crimps the stent onto the catheter. In another embodiment, the crimping section is a coiled filament suspended at both ends and having an axial space holding the stent and catheter. Rotating the shaft twists the filament which in turn constricts and crimps the stent onto the catheter.
