    • A partition for separating front and rear occupant areas of a vehicle comprises a frame and multiple panel members. The frame is for attachment to the vehicle and has an upper lateral member, respective angled side tubular members and a window. The multiple panel members are configured to fit vertically between the window and a floor pan and horizontally between first and second sides. The multiple panel members comprise a first panel member for positioning adjacent the first side, a second panel member for positioning adjacent the second side and a center section laterally adjacent and separating the first and second panel members. The center section protrudes rearwardly relative to the first panel member and the second panel member. The second panel member is recessed forwardly of the first panel member and forwardly of the center section to increase space available in a rear seat aligned with the second panel member.

    • Vehicle seats that reduce the potential for injury to occupants when the vehicle is subjected to a mine or similar explosive device. The seats are ceiling or wall mounted and include a trailing arm which allows for deflection while providing stability. The seat isolates the occupants from the chassis of the vehicle via a pneumatic or other shock absorber and/or a crushable element to provide protection from vertical and horizontal oriented blasts. These seats can also be combined with shock absorbing/isolating foot rests, appendage (leg) restrain systems and an occupant four-point harness to offer a completely integrated system. This integrated system reduces acceleration/deceleration related injuries, shock injuries to the lower legs, flailing injuries to the lower legs and internal collision injuries. Other options and alternatives are also described.

    • The vehicle security partition has a barrier that separates the interior compartment of an automotive vehicle into front and rear seating areas in order to inhibit contact between front seating area occupants and rear seating area occupants. A bi-directional recessed housing is part of the barrier which is supported by a frame and provides leg-room for the rear seating area occupant while allowing for full rearward adjustment of the driver's seat. The bi-directional recessed housing also includes a recessed area for storing articles in the front seating area.

    • A lighted exterior mirror assembly includes a housing that houses a reflectance element that is movably positionable by the driver of a vehicle to adjust its rearward field of view when the lighted exterior rearview mirror assembly is attached at a side of the vehicle. A ground illumination lamp is disposed at a portion of the lighted exterior mirror assembly and separate from the reflectance element. The ground illumination lamp is a substantially moisture-impervious unit having an enclosure and a lens that is permanently joined with the enclosure. The ground illumination lamp includes a light source disposed within the enclosure behind the lens and, when the lighted exterior mirror assembly is attached at the side of the vehicle and when the light source is electrically powered, the light source emits light that passes through the lens and illuminates a ground area adjacent the side of the vehicle.

    • An apparatus and for restraining occupants of a vehicle is disclosed, the apparatus having a rigid member configured to restrain an upper or lower body portion of an individual located in the vehicle. The individual moves within a range of motion that is represented by an area of movement. The rigid member is capable of movement between a stowed position and a deployed position. The upper body portion or the lower body portion is restrained by the rigid member only in the deployed position. A locking mechanism for locking the rigid member in the stowed position and the deployed position is provided. A release mechanism activates the locking mechanism. The release mechanism is located at a predetermined distance from the locking mechanism such that the release mechanism is located outside of the area of movement.
