    • The steam generator includes a cylindrical tank, a plurality of circumferentially-spaced electrical terminals extending through the tank top wall. To afford the capability of adjusting the horizontal distance between adjacent electrodes while maintaining the sides parallel and uniformly spaced, the underside of the tank top wall is provided with a radially extending row of radially-spaced bosses in conjunction with each terminal and each boss includes an aperture radially aligned with the corresponding terminal. The upper end of each electrode includes a radially-extending row of apertures which are adapted to receive the inner end of a terminal and are spaced so that, when a terminal is positioned in one of the electrode apertures, at least one other is in registration with a tank boss aperture to receive a metal screw or the like for anchoring the electrode on the tank. The electrodes each include a pair of vertical, generally flat, elongated perforated metal side members joined together in angular relationship along an inner edge to form a V-shaped cross-section and have an upper portion with vertical outer edges extending generally parallel to the tank side wall and a thicker lower portion having outer edges which extend at an incline downwardly and radially inwardly from the outer edges of the upper portion and terminate at the bottom in a generally horizontally extending edge.

    • An electrode type steam vaporizer device is disclosed which includes a plurality of ferrite electrodes positioned in a water receptacle wherein AC voltage is applied to the electrodes thereby vaporizing water in the receptacle. Each of the ferrite electrodes is a sintered body made of a mixture of iron oxide and a divalent nickel oxide. The ferrite electrodes are contained in an electrode assembly located within the body of the water receptacle such that a pair of electrode terminals extend through the top wall of the receptacle. A cover having a power source connector receiving concavity in its surface is positioned on top on the water receptacle. The cover is rotatable between a first position where the concavity is in registry with the electrode terminals and a second position where the concavity is out of registry with the terminals. A power source connector is received in the concavity and is connectable with the electrode terminals only when the cover is in the first position. When the connector is attached to the device, the cover is trapped between the body of the water receptacle and the connector, thereby preventing the removal of the cover. Thus the receptacle may not be filled and the electrodes may not be cleaned unless the power connector is removed from the electrode terminals. Additionally, when not in use, the cover may be rotated to the second position whereby the electrode terminals are protected from dust accumulation.

    • Disclosed herein is a method and a digital electronic steam humidifier control for use with a humidifier system including an electrode boiler to provide a normally repetitive fill, boil, fill-on-drain cycle. The humidifier control includes circuitry for providing an analog signal proportional to the electrode current, and a comparator network which receives the analog signal and a reference voltage and scaled voltages provided by additional circuitry to establish predetermined levels of electrode current at which the control responds. The comparator network provides a plurality of digital outputs having a high or low state depending upon the magnitude of the electrode current, which outputs are coupled to logic circuitry including NAND gates and which operates to actuate electrically controlled fill and drain valves to vary the water level so that the electrode current varies between predetermined lower and upper current limits, and which also operates to temporarily cut off the power to the electrodes if the electrode current exceeds a predetermined over-current limit. The logic circuitry also operates in conjunction with high water probes to prevent overfilling of the boiler and to cause boiling of the water without draining during start up so that the water acquires a predetermined higher level of conductivity so that the electrode boiler operates efficiently. An abnormal operation light and high and low current indicators are also provided to inform an operator of the status of operation of the control.

    • A vaporizer-humidifier having a small insulated vaporization chamber within a larger storage chamber, heating means within the vaporization chamber and a fan above the chamber for drawing air through and vapor from the vaporization chamber and dispelling it. The vaporization chamber has an open lower end communicating with a sediment collecting reservoir, which reservoir is connected by a one-way valve with the large storage chamber to permit liquid therein to flow into the sediment collecting reservoir and then up into the vaporization chamber as the liquid therein is vaporized. Sediment purged from the liquid settles in the removable sediment collecting reservoir.
