    • The invention relates to a bus system comprising a bus line, to which electronic devices (26-36) can be connected. According to the invention, at least one electronic device (36) can be connected via a detachable interface (38) to the bus line, said interface (38) having a first connection (42) that is connected to a first section (12) of the bus line and a second connection (44) that is connected to a second section (14) of the bus line. To prevent an interruption of the bus line when the interface (38) is free, a bypass device (40) automatically creates a connection between the first section (12) of the bus line and the second section (14) of the bus line, if no electronic device (36) is connected to the interface (38).

    • A system for monitoring and/or controlling operation of a machine is particularly designed for agricultural machines such as seeders or planters. The system includes a central monitor unit and a plurality of sensors all connected in series on a communication bus. Each sensor is manufactured with a unique ID code. The central monitor unit on installation of the system polls each sensor as it is installed in a particular order of installation determined by the central monitor so that central monitor knows the location, function of each sensor in conjunction with its ID code. The central monitor then controls polling of the sensors by commands addressed to the individual sensors. Each sensor has a processor, transducer and a memory for storing data arising from the transducer. The memory can comprise a rollover memory of a simple nature which counts pulses or clock pulses and transmits the stored data when polled by the central monitor.

    • A multipurpose horticultural crop tractor combines certain clearance and versatile implement mounting features for accommodating a wide variety of alternative field production operations. A movable operator station provides full bidirectional operator control. An operator station may also be suspended on a boom pivotably mounted to the tractor frame for repositioning of the operator station about such frame. The implement mounting system also permits alternate high or low clearance mounting of a conventional three-point hitch, which when used in an elevated position enables attachment of high crop harvesting heads. Alternative implement mounts permit simultaneous usage of two separate implements. The tractor may be outfitted for many alternative functions, such as tillagae, planting, cultivating, spraying, harvesting, materials handling, and irrigating missions, including usage of a vertically movable lift unit with horizontally adjustable lift arms.
