    • In a method and an apparatus for determining a frequency for the sampling of an analog signal, which is provided to a digital screen for representing an image on the same, at least two areas succeeding in line direction will be established in the image to be displayed. In each of the established areas, a sample phase will be determined, for which a contrast in the established area is maximum or a minimum. Subsequently, a local course of the sample phase will be determined in the line direction based on the determined sample phases. The sampling frequency will be determined based on a base value and a modification value, which is derived from the local course of the sample phase.

    • A fuel injector, in particular for a high-pressure injector for direct injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, has compression of a fuel/air mixture with spark ignition. On the downstream end of the valve a valve seat element is provided, to which a perforated disk acting as a flow restrictor is connected downstream. A swirl element is situated upstream from the valve seat which imparts an atomization-promoting rotational motion to the fuel to be injected. In the valve seat element downstream from the valve seat, an elongated outlet orifice is provided which opens directly into an orifice in the perforated disk attached to the valve seat element. The width of the outlet orifice is greater than the width of the orifice in the perforated disk, at least at its narrowest location, so that it is possible to adjust the steady-state flow rate of the valve at the orifice.

A surface of valve-closure member bordering the dead volume has a surface structure having at least several pores with a surface roughness of at least 25 &mgr;m for gas accumulation.

    • An electromagnetically operated injection valve including a return spring having upper and lower ends, the upper and lower spring ends are bent to extend axially and parallel with a valve's longitudinal axis. The upper end of the spring engages a recess of a fixed setting bushing, and the lower end engage in a recess of a needle sleeve so as to prevent twisting. Due to the position of a valve seat body relative to the valve closing member the same angle is maintained throughout the life of the assembly, the adaptation process of both components is reduced to a single running-in phase. The new injection valve is particularly suitable as an injection valve for fuel injection units of mixture compressing spark ignited internal combustion engines.
