    • A paper-transporting apparatus is used for transporting recording paper. A paper-transporting device is movable between a loading position where the paper-transporting unit has been completely attached into a chassis and an unloading position where the paper-transporting unit has been completely drawn out of the chassis. A guide member that supports the paper-transporting device and guides the paper-transporting device between the loading position and the unloading position. The paper-transporting device has a cover and a frame that cooperate with each other to form a paper path in which a recording paper is advanced. When the paper-transporting device is at the loading position, a positioning device holds the cover at a certain position with respect to the frame. When the paper-transporting device is at the unloading position, the positioning device does not hold the cover at the certain position with respect to the frame.

    • A medium transporting apparatus transports a medium along a predetermined transport path. A medium-transporting section is movable between a loading position and an unloading position and has a first transport path. A medium-holding section is movable between the loading position and the unloading position, holds a stack of medium therein, and has a second transport path continuous to the first transport path. A first locking mechanism locks the medium-transporting section to the loading position and unlocks the medium-transporting section from the loading position. A coupling mechanism brings the medium-transporting section and the medium-holding section into coupled engagement with each other and brings the medium-transporting section and the medium-holding section out of coupled engagement with each other. When the first locking mechanism unlocks the medium-transporting section from the loading position, the coupling mechanism brings the medium-transporting section and the medium-holding section into coupled engagement with each other.

    • An improved process for the production of a methacrylic polymer having excellent heat resistance, which comprises radical-polymerizing a monomer or monomer mixture consisting of 80 to 100% by weight of methyl methacrylate and 0 to 20% by weight of a copolymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of a polymerization initiator and one or more of specific chain transfer agents selected from the group consisting of(A) 2-mercaptoethyl alkanecarboxylate of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl having 4 to 12 carbon atoms,(B) alkyl 3-mercaptopropionate of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R is an alkyl having 4 to 18 atoms. The methacrylic resin prepared by this invention has excellent heat resistance and can give formed products having excellent heat resistance (high heat distortion temperature) without increase of monomer content processing thereof.
