    • In an electronic apparatus having a membrane switch and a touch panel switch at its entirety section, the touch panel switch is elastic and is laid over the membrane switch. The two-layered structure provides users with two operations: a “finger-sliding” operation and a “finger-depressing operation.” When a user slides a finger on the surface of the touch panel switch, the sliding force activates the touch panel switch. The “finger-sliding” is used for selecting a desired item. On the other hand, when the user presses down on the surface of the touch panel switch, the depression force through the touch panel switch activates the underlying membrane switch. The “finger-depressing” is used for numeric or symbolic information entry. It is thus possible to realize an electronic apparatus offering an excellent compromise between ease of operation and a wide display section.

    • In an automatic measuring apparatus and method for a numerically controlled machine tool, the dimension of a stylus secured to a cross slide and a desired dimension between two opposite points on a workpiece to be measured are inputted into an automatic measuring device in advance, the cross slide is moved under numerical control to bring the stylus into contact with the two points and to remove the stylus therefrom, and measurement of the amount of movement of the cross slide is started when the stylus leaves from one of the two points and the measurement is ended when the stylus leaves from the other point. The measurement value thus obtained, the dimension of the stylus and the desired dimension are subjected to addition and subtraction, thereby to automatically measure the actual dimension between the two points, and the difference between this actual dimension and the desired dimension.

    • An electronic apparatus disclosed facilitates the replacement of an input device. In the electronic apparatus equipped with the input device allowing various input operations, the input device including first signal generators is positioned by being placed in an opening of a housing from the outside. A cover can be detached from the housing and fixes the input device when installed in the opening of the housing. Second signal generators are provided inside the housing and function in combination with the respective first signal generators. Just mounting the cover to the housing fixes the input device. This facilitates the replacement of the input device, eliminating the need to open the housing and to remove a wiring board mounted with the second signal generators in replacement of the input device.
