    • A method and an apparatus for mobility management of a mobile station that can efficiently avoid interruption of services to the mobile station, without imposing loads on a network and the mobile station, are provided. Upon change of serving cell, a mobile station receives a neighbor list from a new serving cell and stores it in a neighbor list (NL-NW). Upon cell selection, the mobile station associates the new serving cell with the previous serving cell and stores information about this association in a neighbor list (NL-A). Upon detection of deterioration in the quality of the current serving cell, the mobile station measures the quality of each cell on the neighbor list (NL-NW) and the neighbor list (NL-A). Upon detection of a cell that is better than the current serving cell, the mobile station reselects this detected better cell as its new serving cell.

    • The purpose of the present invention is to provide a tilt angle deciding method and a system wherein tilt angles to diminish the deterioration rate of the entire system can be obtained in the radio communication system. The method comprises the steps of setting initial values of tilt angles; calculating the deterioration rate at the initial values of tilt angles; selecting an antenna for reducing a tilt angle; reducing the tilt angle of the selected antenna; calculating a deterioration rate at the time when the tilt angle is reduced; determining the continuity of repeating the processes, after repeating the series of processes for reducing these tilt angles, and increasing tilt angles repeatedly in the similar way. In addition, the method comprises the steps of outputting tilt angles for diminishing a small deterioration rate, and determining whether the processes of repeating the whole steps finish. With the above-specified processes, it becomes possible to obtain tilt angles for diminishing the deterioration rate of the entire system in comparison with that obtained at initial values of tilt angles.

    • There is provided a mobile communication system capable of reducing the power consumption in the packet wait state and promptly transmitting a packet when data transmission is requested. At a predetermined synchronization establishment interval start time (T1), a base station starts transmission of DPCH (DL) which is a downlink individual channel. A mobile station receives the DPCH (DL) and starts synchronization establishment operation. If the synchronization of the DPCH (DL) is not established by the synchronization establishment interval end time (T2), the synchronization establishment operation is continued. If the base station cannot detect transmission of the DPCH (UL) which is an uplink individual channel from the base station by the synchronization establishment interval end time (T2), the base station continues transmission of the DPCH (DL) to the mobile station and suspends user data transmission in the state update information to the mobile station and DPCH (DL) to the mobile station and control signal transmission to an upper node layer until the DPCH (UL) transmission is detected.
