    • A cellular system according to an exemplary aspect of the present invention is a cellular system in which a plurality of frequency carriers are available for communication between a base station and a mobile station, including: a first measurement unit for measuring a rate of time that interference power of a frequency carrier in uplink is more than a pre-determined threshold; a carrier availability/unavailability determining unit for putting the frequency carrier into an unavailable state if the time rate is more than a first threshold and putting the frequency carrier into an available state if the time rate is less than a second threshold; and a communication unit for using the frequency carrier in an available state for the communication between the base station and the mobile station.

    • In a cellular mobile communication system, each base station is allocated common frequencies shared with other base stations in addition to unique frequencies. One of the unique frequencies is assigned by a base station to a mobile terminal in response to a call request. The field strength of a signal from that mobile terminal is detected and one of the common frequencies is assigned to it if the detected field strength becomes lower than a threshold. The base station receives a field strength signal from a neighboring station indicating the field strength of a version of the signal at the neighboring station and compares it with a threshold, and combines the signal of that mobile terminal with the version of the signal received by and relayed from the neighboring station when the field strength of that version of the signal is higher than the threshold. At the given mobile station, a signal from the base station which assigned the common frequency is combined with a signal from the neighboring station. In a modification, the field strength of signals from surrounding base stations is detected by mobile terminals and a start-of-diversity-mode request is transmitted when the field strength of one of the surrounding stations is higher than a threshold and an end-of-diversity-mode request signal is transmitted when the field strength of such a surrounding station is lower than the threshold. The base station responds to these requests for effecting diversity reception.

    • A communication control method is provided which improves a wireless resource usage rate, is available to recognize a variation in wireless resource state in advance, and is available to control communication in accordance with the variation in a mobile communication system in which an MBMS and an HSDPA coexist and the same wireless resource is shared and used. A MAC-m transmits information related to a wireless resource used on an MBMS transport channel at a transmission timing of a base station to a MAC-hs before the transmission timing. The MAC-hs receives the information related to the wireless resource of the MBMS transport channel from the MAC-m. The MAC-hs calculates a wireless resource which can be used applied to data of a HSDPA transport channel at the transmission timing with using the information related to the wireless resource of the MBMS transport channel and a wireless resource to which the HSDPA transport channel is allocated. The MAC-hs controls communication of the data in accordance with the wireless resource of the calculation result.
