    • A user terminal device has a computer, a software for the user terminal device, a telephone, a video camera and a virtual office display device. Generally, working state, condition or the like of another user is displayed on a screen of the virtual office display device. A user's state is recognized on the basis of an image of the user taken by the video camera. In a case where the user continuously looks toward the virtual office display device for a period longer than a time previously determined by the user, the screen of the virtual office display device is switched to a rest room screen, and the user is moved to a rest room in a virtual space. In that rest room, the user can communicate with another user utilizing a cooperative rest tool. The cooperative rest tool includes a voice meeting tool, a character meeting tool and a multiuser game tool.

    • An image processing method for determining an area representing a particular image from a moving image using a genetic algorithm, includes the steps of extracting a current frame image from a series of moving image data, producing a plurality of initial chromosomes indicating the particular image from a frame image previous to the current frame image, and determining the area of the particular image in the current frame image by executing a genetic algorithm on the initial chromosomes. According to this image processing method, it is possible to precisely and quickly determine an area of a particular image from a moving image.

    • An image processing apparatus comprises a) an input device for inputting color image data which is compression-encoded in a color difference system color space, b) a decoder for decoding the color image data input by the input device, c) a processor for executing correction processing to luminance component data of the color image data decoded by the decoder, and d) an encoder for encoding both the luminance component data processed by the processor, and color difference component data of the color image data output from the decoder. According to another embodiment of the invention, an image processing apparatus is provided which comprises a) an input device for inputting color image data which is compression-encoded in a color difference system color space, b) a decoder for decoding the color image data input by the input device, c) a processor for executing correction processing to luminance component data of the color image data decoded by the decoder, and d) a converter for performing a color space conversion on the basis of the luminance component data processed by the processor, and color difference component data of the color image data output from the decoder.
